Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Technologist/Technician with strong expertise in electrical design, electrical contract administration, and fire alarm system verification within the Province of Alberta. This role will support engineering, construction, and commissioning activities across commercial projects. The position is newly created.The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Alberta regulations, and fire alarm standards (ULC), along with strong design, coordination, and field experience.What you will doElectrical Contract AdministrationAdminister electrical construction contracts from design through commissioning and closeoutReview shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and contractor submittals for complianceConduct site inspections to verify adherence to design, specifications, and safety standardsCoordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholdersMonitor project schedules and progress reportingPrepare deficiency lists and oversee corrective actionsElectrical Design & Engineering SupportDevelop and review electrical designs including:Power distribution systems (low/medium voltage)Lighting and emergency systemsControl systemsFire alarm systemsPrepare drawings, specifications, and technical documentationEnsure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and Alberta codes/standardsPerform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system coordinationSupport value engineering and constructability reviewsAssist with engineering calculations, cable sizing, underground infrastructure design, lighting simulations and calculations,



specifications and general project documentationFire Alarm Verification & Life Safety SystemsConduct fire alarm system verification in accordance with ULC-S536Review fire alarm shop drawings and sequences of operationWitness testing and commissioning of fire alarm systemsCoordinate with AHJs, including municipal inspectorsPrepare verification reports and documentationTroubleshoot deficiencies and ensure systems meet performance requirementsQualificationsMinimum QualificationsDiploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Power Engineering Technology6+ years of relevant experience in electrical construction, design, and field verificationStrong experience with contract administration on construction projectsCertification or eligibility for C.E.T. (Certified Engineering Technologist) in Alberta (ASET) – preferredCFAA certification or equivalent – preferredProven experience with ULC fire alarm standardsIn-depth knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
