BGC WMD: Leaders in Action – Event LabBGC Weston Mount Dennis serves children and youth in the Weston Mount Dennis and surrounding communities. We provide social, physical, educational, creative, seasonal, and community support programs that foster growth, confidence, and belonging.Our approach to youth development is holistic, with mental health and wellbeing woven into everyday experiences. Through secure, supportive spaces, meaningful relationships, and engaging programming, youth are encouraged to express themselves, build resilience, and develop the skills needed to navigate life's challenges.Position Overview: Youth Mentor (Event Lab Facilitator)The Youth Mentor is a leadership and facilitation-focused role responsible for delivering structured programming, mentoring youth participants, and supporting the development of leadership, event planning, and workplace readiness skills.This role plays a key part in guiding youth through the creation and execution of two major events, while fostering confidence, teamwork, and personal growth.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, develop, and facilitate workshops for youth ages 13–15 (e.G., leadership, financial literacy, event planning, employment readiness)Lead and support participants within the Leadership-in-Training (LIT) ProgramMentor youth in developing leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skillsGuide youth through the planning and execution of three community eventsDesign and deliver inclusive, engaging, and skill-based programming (arts, recreation, social topics)Review and implement program manuals and resources provided by BGC CanadaIntegrate R2 Resilience Approach and Respect2Connect frameworks into daily programmingSupport youth in building confidence and readiness for future employment opportunitiesEnsure a safe, inclusive,
and supportive environment at all timesSupervise participants and follow all safety policies and proceduresManage group dynamics and resolve conflicts appropriatelyComplete administrative tasks (attendance, program plans, reports) accurately and on timeAssist with Club-wide initiatives and eventsMaintain professional relationships with youth, families, staff, and community membersAttend all required meetings, training sessions, and briefingsArrive a minimum of 15 minutes prior to each scheduled shiftQualificationsMinimum 2 years of experience working in a camp or youth program setting (required)Experience working with youth ages 13+ (required)Experience facilitating workshops or structured programmingStrong ability to plan, implement, and evaluate engaging programsExperience mentoring youth or supporting leadership development programs (asset)Ability to implement structured frameworks and program materialsSkills in leadership, arts, recreation, education, or social programmingStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to engage and manage youth in group settingsCurrent First Aid & CPR-C (mandatory)Police Reference Check within the last 6 months (required prior to start)HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development (asset)Valid Driver's License (asset)Contract DetailsContract Period: June 22, 2026 – August 14, 2026Mandatory Training: June 22 – June 26, 2026Hours: 35 hours per weekSchedule:

This innovative program combines leadership development, employment readiness, and creative expression through hands‐on experience in planning and executing real community events.Program DescriptionParticipants will take part in a 8-week Leadership-in-Training (LIT) model, where they gain practical skills while working collaboratively to design and deliver two youth-led events throughout the summer.
