Job Purpose:This position is responsible for supporting the Backcountry operations of the department as well as the operations and maintenance of our shop facility. It is primarily a field position which will expose staff to a wide range of environmental work. The position requires long days working outdoors, often in less than ideal conditions. The right candidate is a quick learner with lots of hands‐on experience and a willingness to work as a team.Duties and Responsibilities:Support the implementation of field work on and off the CLAWROperate department equipment including, but not limited to side by sides, skid steer, tractor, trucks, quads, boats, snowmobilesParticipate in consultation site visits including HRIA (Archeology) field workParticipate in a wide range of field related activities including, but not limited to, fisheries monitoring, water quality monitoring, terrestrial biology fieldwork with Cameras and Acoustic Recording unitsParticipate in data management using computers and softwareKeep the shop facility clean and well maintainedOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills,



and Abilities Required:Class 5 Drivers LicenseClean 3-year drivers abstractDemonstrated Field Experience in environmental or other sectors (eg. wildfire, seismic, forestry, landscaping, guiding/ outfitting etc.)Experience with boats and ATV's is requiredWilling and able to stay overnight or for multiple nights in the fieldMust be able to work weekends about 50% of the timeOutdoor experience is considered an assetSkills in operating and maintaining equipment requiredAble to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate in a team environmentDealing with multiple competing prioritiesWorking Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:Hours of work are typically 9:00-5:00 but longer days are required sometimes.Field work is required. This may require walking long distances, being outside for extended periods, lifting and carrying loads of up to 50 lbs.Overtime may be requiredWorking hours can vary and may require a adaptable schedule depending on type of assignment or work plan task.Evening and weekend work may be required to attend meetings, events, and community engagement sessions.Remuneration:Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
