Lawyer - Insurance DefenceJob SummaryOur insurance defence firm is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated lawyer, with 2-3 Years of experience in insurance defense. The successful candidate will work closely with a partner on a diverse portfolio of Tort and Accident Benefits files, which may include priority, loss transfer, subrogation, coverage matters and product liability. In this role, you will be required to exercise strong critical thinking and analysis, particularly when reviewing legal documents, collaborating in assessing case strategies, and making decisions that affect the outcome of complex matters. This is an excellent chance for a skilled and motivated lawyer to contribute to an insurance law boutique practice while working alongside a partner and a team of seasoned professionals.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the Partner, ensuring timely progression and resolution.Follow protocols for regular, clear, and timely communication/reporting with clients, keeping them updated on case developmentsDraft pleadings, motions, affidavits, mediation briefs,



and other litigation documents.Handle all matters with attention to detailAttend examinations for discovery, mediations, Licence Appeal Tribunal Proceedings, and other litigation eventsEnsure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and maintain accurate case records.QualificationsLL.B. or J.D. from a recognized law schoolMembership in good standing with the LSOMinimum 2-3 years of experience as a lawyer in insurance defense, AB, coverage and/or product liability.Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlinesStrong critical thinking and analytical abilities to assess legal issues and make informed decisionsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearlyStrong multi-tasking, organizational and client management skillsCollaborative mindset with a focus on both individual and team successAbility to exercise discretion and sound judgment when dealing with confidential and sensitive information
