Estimator – Purchasing & Floor Design Support

ACQBUILT is looking for an Estimator – Purchasing & Floor Design Support to join our Estimating & Procurement team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with MiTek design experience and a background in residential construction estimating, material take-offs, purchasing, or component design who wants to build their skills across several areas of the construction process.

In this role, estimating and purchasing are the core responsibilities, while you’ll also receive training and hands-on experience supporting residential floor-system design using MiTek software. As your skills develop, you’ll take on increasing responsibility for floor-design support and provide coverage for our Senior Floor Designer when required.

What You'll Do

Estimating

- Review architectural, structural, and project drawings to determine scope, quantities, and estimating requirements.
- Prepare material take-offs, labour and material estimates, quotations, and project budgets.
- Review drawings for revisions, missing information, conflicts, unusual conditions, and potential cost or scope risks.
- Price project options, changes, and revisions while maintaining accurate records of quantities and assumptions.
- Review estimates for accuracy and completeness before quotation or release.
- Work closely with Design, Procurement, MEP, Scheduling, Production, and Project teams to resolve estimating questions.

Purchasing & Material Coordination
- Prepare and issue project material purchases based on approved estimates, current drawings, schedules, and company procedures.
- Confirm quantities, specifications, pricing, availability, and delivery requirements with suppliers.
- Compare supplier quotations against project requirements and help resolve discrepancies, shortages, substitutions, and changes.
- Maintain current material pricing information and communicate lead times or material impacts to the appropriate teams.

MiTek Floor Design Support
- Work alongside the Senior Floor Designer to learn ACQBUILT's floor-system design standards and processes.




- Use MiTek software to assist with assigned floor-system layouts, component design, and revisions.
- Review architectural and structural drawings for information affecting floor design and identify conflicts or missing details.
- Coordinate design information with estimating, purchasing, production, and project teams to ensure work reflects current approved documentation.
- As your experience develops, provide workload and absence coverage for the Senior Floor Designer.
- Assist with roof or truss design tasks where your experience and workload allow.

Team & Company Support
- Keep estimating, purchasing, design-support, and project information organized and up to date.
- Help improve estimating tools, pricing information, purchasing processes, and design handoffs.
- Follow company safety, confidentiality, ethics, and workplace conduct requirements.
- Take on other related responsibilities as required.

What We're Looking For

Required

- Hands-on MiTek experience, including residential floor-system and/or roof/truss design.
- Ability to read and interpret residential architectural and structural drawings.
- Experience in residential construction estimating, material take-offs, component design, or a related field.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to learn company estimating and ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong attention to detail and numerical reasoning.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Good judgment and willingness to identify and raise design, scope, cost, or procurement concerns before they become problems.

Nice to Have
- Additional MiTek floor-system design experience.




- Knowledge of engineered wood products and residential wood framing.
- Experience with prefabricated construction, purchasing, supplier coordination, or ERP/MRP systems.
- Diploma or training in Construction Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, component design, or a related discipline.

Equivalent practical experience will also be considered. Training & Development

You won't be expected to know everything on day one.

You'll receive task-specific training and hands-on support from our Senior Floor Designer to develop your knowledge of ACQBUILT's floor-system standards, design processes, and production requirements.

As you demonstrate competency, you'll have the opportunity to take on additional floor-design responsibilities and provide greater coverage within the department.

What the Work Environment Looks Like

This is primarily an office-based position involving computer work, drawing review, estimating, purchasing, and regular coordination with internal teams and suppliers.

Occasional visits to production or project sites may be required, subject to company safety requirements.

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
