Position Details The Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for prospective Sessional Lecturer employment opportunities. The Faculty offers courses in Art, Art History, Museum Studies, Drama, Music, Digital Audio Arts, New Media, and Cinema. We are seeking applications in all areas, at the 1000, 2000, and 3000-level of instruction, and will follow up with applicants directly in the event that an chance does become available.

The closing date for applications is September 15, 2026, though late applications may also be considered.

Additionally, we are seeking up to two candidates to teach the following Winter 2027 courses:

Art NOW

Built upon a series of guest lectures by nationally and internationally recognized artists and art professionals, this course covers a wide range of current topics in contemporary art. Guest lecture presentations are supplemented by contextual lectures, readings, visits to local art exhibitions and discussion.

- The candidate must:
- have a demonstrated ability to contextualize contemporary art for a wide audience
- have a demonstrated ability to work flexibly and in collaboration with colleagues.




- be able to work with the Department’s visiting speaker committee and with local galleries and visiting artists
- be able to provide a welcoming introduction for speakers to the University
- be able to engage a wide range of students in local art experiences
- MFA in Art, or PhD (ABD considered) in Art History, Museum Studies, or related field and demonstrated expertise in contemporary Canadian art; or MA in related field and equivalent curatorial experience in contemporary art

Architecture and Design NOW Aspects of recent and contemporary architecture and design are introduced through a series of presentations by practicing architects, designers, architectural historians, critics and writers on design.

- The candidate must:
- have a demonstrated ability to contextualize contemporary architecture and design for a wide audience
- have a demonstrated ability to work flexibly and in collaboration with colleagues.
- be able to work with the Department’s visiting speaker committee and with local galleries and visiting artists
- be able to provide a welcoming introduction for speakers to the University
- be able to engage a wide range of students in local architecture
- MFA in Art, or PhD (ABD considered) in Architectural or design history, Art History, Museum Studies, or related field and demonstrated expertise in contemporary Canadian art; or MA in related field and equivalent curatorial experience in relevant areas

Piiksinaasin, which means Manifesting Beauty, represents the Faculty of Fine Arts as a place where students create, explore and research, transforming the world around them through creative practice and critical thinking. The name reflects the Faculty’s long-standing support of Indigenous arts and creative initiatives and exemplifies the work done to advance reconciliation and decolonization.
