Position Summary The FASD Keyworker provides family-centred, culturally responsive support to children, youth, and families affected by suspected or confirmed Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and other Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions (CDBC). Working closely with families, schools, service providers, and community partners, the Keyworker helps families navigate supports, build on strengths, access resources, and promote positive outcomes for children and youth.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide support, advocacy, and service coordination for children, youth, and families affected by FASD and other CDBC.
- Assist families in understanding assessments, recommendations, and available supports and services.
- Support families in accessing health, education, social, and community resources.
- Participate in collaborative planning and case management meetings with families and service providers.
- Facilitate parent support networks and opportunities for family connection.
- Deliver community education and awareness activities related to FASD and neurodevelopmental differences.
- Collaborate with schools, community agencies, and regional service providers.




- Provide education and support to Wachiay Friendship Centre staff regarding FASD and effective support strategies.
- Maintain program records, statistics, reports, and budget requirements.
- Attend required training, meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Human Services, Early Childhood Education, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education, training, lived experience, and relevant work experience will be considered.
- Experience supporting children, youth, and families affected by FASD, neurodevelopmental differences, developmental disabilities, or other complex support needs.
- Robust knowledge of FASD, child and youth development, and brain-based support approaches.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a community-based environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual communication platforms.
- Valid BC Driver's Licence and reliable transportation.

Working Conditions

- Local travel within the Comox Valley and surrounding communities.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 per week
