Field QA QC Specialist

Position purpose:

The Field QA/QC Specialist works under the direction of senior leadership in both HSE and Operations. The role serves as a liaison between the field and the HSE department, bringing practical knowledge of water transfer work to observation, verification, training and operational improvement.

The approach is trust but verify. The Specialist understands the nuances of field tasks, observes how work is actually performed and helps crews apply procedures and controls. They turn observations into training, mentoring and practical changes approved by HSE and Operations leadership, then return to the field to verify that those changes work.

Key responsibilities - Field observation and verification

· Visit active work sites to observe water transfer activities and verify how approved procedures, hazard assessments and controls are applied.

· Identify differences between planned work and field execution, including task conditions that may not be apparent from a checklist.

· Review field inspections, commissioning records and other required documentation for completeness and consistency with observed work.

· Document facts, concerns and recommendations clearly; promptly escalate significant findings and verify the results of actions directed by leadership.

Training and mentoring:

· Coach supervisors and crews on hazard recognition, quality of field assessments and practical application of procedures and controls.

· Provide hands-on mentoring during field visits using actual tasks and conditions to build understanding and consistent execution.

· Identify training and competency gaps and work with HSE and Operations to improve learning materials and field instruction.

· Support the rollout of approved changes by explaining expectations, answering questions and checking understanding in the field.

Field and HSE liaison:

· Bring field concerns, practical constraints, emerging hazards and effective practices to HSE and Operations leadership.





· Help HSE understand the operational context behind field observations and help crews understand the intent of procedures and controls.

· Connect HSE and Operations when an observation requires assessment, investigation or a change to a work process.

Change implementation and effectiveness:

· Identify recurring gaps between written requirements and how tasks are performed, and develop practical recommendations with field teams and leadership.

· Help implement approved improvements to procedures, job task analyses, hazard assessments, inspections and training.

· Return to sites to verify adoption and effectiveness; track observations and open actions through closure and communicate results to leadership.

Qualifications and experience:

· Substantial hands-on experience in water transfer or closely related field operations, with a strong understanding of field tasks and the challenges crews encounter.

· Proven ability to train and mentor field personnel and support consistent adoption of new practices.

· Ability to recognize hazards and quality concerns, ask informed questions and communicate findings constructively.

· Clear written documentation and sound judgment in separating facts from interpretation and recommendations.

· Credibility with field crews and the ability to work effectively with senior HSE and Operations leaders.

· Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to field locations.

Reporting and decision making:

The Specialist works for senior leadership in HSE and Operations, who set priorities and determine how findings are addressed. Field supervisors and Operations leaders retain responsibility for directing crews and making field decisions. The Specialist observes, verifies, trains, mentors, supports implementation of approved changes and checks whether those changes are effective. Immediate safety concerns are raised through the established stop-work and escalation process.
