This role is primarily involved with children's programming (kids tours, birthdays, camps, events etc.) and includes working with school aged youth.Job PurposeThe Attendant: Outreach is responsible for facilitating public programming at the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS).Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport the planning and implementation of OHS events for children, youth, and adultsLead educational activities, entertainment, and gamesConduct tours of the Ottawa Humane SocietyPlan, set up, and take down of decorations and equipmentSupervise children and child-animal interaction ensuring safetyMonitor supply levels, reporting supply needs to supervisorMaintain education centre and outreach areas, facilities, and equipmentAccept payments for programs as requiredSupport the activities of coworkers, volunteers, students and work placements and provide orientation and training as requiredBe thoroughly familiar with pertinent legislation, regulations, guidelines, OHS policies, procedures, collective agreement, and good animal care practicesProduce and maintain accurate reports, records, and filesParticipate in supervision, evaluation, training and other meetings as requiredParticipate in the identification and evaluation of OHS program goals and objectivesParticipate in career development opportunitiesRepresent the OHS in a professional mannerParticipate in public relations and promotional activities as requiredQualificationsSecondary school diploma or equivalentMinimum of three months' experience working with children and youthCurrent Standard First Aid CPR-C and AED Certification is requiredProfessional working proficiency in spoken and written English is requiredBilingual (English/French) is an assetWorking Conditions/Physical RequirementsEmployment is conditional upon providing a current Level 3 Vulnerable Sector CheckEmployee will be required to work evening, holiday and weekend shiftsEmployment is conditional upon having and maintaining Current Standard First Aid CPR-C and AED CertificationEmployee will be required to wear a uniform designated by the employerEmployment is conditional upon maintaining confidentiality of OHS informationEmployment is conditional upon the ability to work around all species of animals safelyThe Ottawa Humane Society is an equal opportunity employer.
