Food Expeditor / Runner

Fergie’s Café, located along the Cheakamus River in Squamish, is seeking a reliable and experienced Food Expeditor / Runner to join our Front-of-House team.

The Food Expeditor / Runner plays an important role in maintaining an efficient and organized service by coordinating communication between the kitchen and Front-of-House team, ensuring food is delivered accurately and promptly, and supporting the overall flow of service.

Fergie’s is a busy café operating across multiple levels of a large property. This is a physically active position requiring extended periods on your feet, frequent stair use, carrying multiple plates and trays, and regular movement throughout the property. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to maintain a high standard of accuracy and professionalism during busy service periods.

Key Responsibilities

- Expedite and run food from the kitchen and pass to the appropriate tables in a timely and organized manner
- Verify that dishes are complete, accurate, properly presented, and consistent with guest requests before leaving the pass
- Communicate effectively between the kitchen, servers, and other Front-of-House team members to maintain smooth service
- Identify and communicate missing items, modifications, allergies, and special requests
- Develop a solid knowledge of the menu, ingredients, allergens, and dietary requirements
- Assist with garnishing, portioning, and final presentation of dishes as required
- Prioritize food delivery during busy service periods to support efficient ticket times
- Carry and transport multiple plates and trays safely and confidently
- Clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently




- Assist servers with water service, clearing, running food, and other Front-of-House duties as required
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked service areas throughout the shift
- Assist with opening and closing duties, cleaning, and general café operations
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, allergen, and safe food-handling procedures
- Safely navigate stairs, multiple levels, and outdoor areas while carrying food and equipment
- Proactively identify where support is needed and assist other team members during periods of high volume
- Contribute to a positive and professional team environment

Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in a restaurant, café, hospitality, or food service setting is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly regarding orders, allergens, and presentation
- Ability to prioritize tasks and remain organized in a quick-paced environment
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Ability to remain calm and focused during busy service periods
- Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of our menu and service standards
- Food safety and allergen training will be provided as required

Previous restaurant experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

This is an active and physically demanding position.

The successful candidate must be able to:

- Remain standing and walking for extended periods
- Frequently use stairs and navigate multiple levels of the property
- Carry multiple plates, trays, and other food service items
- Bend, reach, lift, and move throughout the course of a shift
- Work safely and efficiently in a busy service environment
- Maintain awareness of guests, staff, equipment, and changing conditions while moving through the property

Pay: $18.25 per hour

Expected hours: 16.0 – 32.0 per week
