The Opportunity:
Calgary Meals on Wheels is seeking a reliable Food Service Worker (Meal Assembly) to join the Production Team. Reporting to the Executive Chef, Director of Culinary & Production, this role supports safe, accurate, and efficient assembly, packaging, and labeling of client meals. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced production environment, follow established food safety standards, and help maintain consistent quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assemble, portion, package, and label meals accurately.
· Verify meal components and packaging meet quality and production standards.
· Follow food safety, sanitation, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP),
WHMIS, and workplace safety procedures.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
· Support production areas, as assigned by the Food Service Lead.
Working Conditions:
· Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive hand movements.
· Work in hot, cold, refrigerated, and varying temperature environments.
· Exposure to food production equipment and cleaning/sanitizing chemicals.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
· Previous food service, production, meal assembly, or commercial kitchen experience is an asset.
· Food Safety certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.
· Knowledge of GMP and WHMIS is an asset.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment.
· Ability to understand and communicate work instructions in English.
· Clear Police Information Check (PIC) and Vulnerable Sector Check if required for the role
