Position Overview

Varis Mine Technology Ltd. (a part of the Becker Mining Systems Group of Companies) is currently searching for an IT Administrator to maintain our IT infrastructure. This role provides technical design, implementation, and support services for server, storage, network, and telecommunications systems, and implements and manages security for server and network (LAN/WAN, telco, voice) infrastructure to protect against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.

This position is crucial for ensuring that our IT infrastructure remains stable, secure, and efficient, and maintains the technological backbone of the organization. The IT Administrator will work as a key member of a high-energy team with a focus on establishing and implementing policies and procedures for the company. Essential Job Functions

❖ Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, servers, and networks to ensure smooth operation.

❖ Provide technical design, implementation, and support services for server, storage, network, and telecommunications systems.

❖ Support the implementation, upgrades, and administration of computing infrastructure.





❖ Implement and manage security measures to protect data and systems from cyber threats, including firewalls and antivirus software.

❖ Implement and manage security for server and network (LAN/WAN, telco, voice) infrastructure to protect against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.

❖ Establish and implement IT policies and procedures for the company.

❖ Provide technical assistance to employees, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and resolving IT-related problems efficiently.

❖ Regularly monitor system performance and conduct backups to ensure data integrity and availability.

❖ Maintain documentation of IT processes, system configurations, and inventory of hardware and software assets.

❖ Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

❖ Bachelor's degree or equivalent diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited university or college.

❖ 3 years of computer networking experience is preferred.

❖ Professional IT certification is preferred (Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, VMware, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or CISSP).

❖ Strong knowledge of network management, system maintenance, and database administration.





❖ Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively.

❖ Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and provide support to users.

❖ Ability to prioritize tasks, complete projects, and adhere to deadlines for time-sensitive tasks, such as enhancing security databases.

❖ Above-average computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.

❖ Reliably commute to, or plan to relocate to, the Greater Sudbury, Ontario area before starting work.
