REQUIRED: This is an on-site position. Candidates must currently reside or be willing to relocate to within one-hour commuting distance of Stand Off, AB.
We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Support Engineer to join our IT support team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of networking, cloud platforms, and virtualization technologies, along with a passion for helping others. This role will be responsible for providing first-line technical support to our internal and external customers, ensuring prompt resolution of issues and a positive user experience.
This position also comes with the responsibility of Digital Video Evidence Transcription/Redaction.
These positions require the candidates to possess or be able to successfully obtain a security clearance. We will work with the candidate on submitting the necessary documentation for the security clearance. Eligibility for and maintenance of the clearance are mandatory conditions of employment. Candidates who have been denied a clearance in the past or who do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria are strongly encouraged not to apply.
Responsibilities
- Provide first-level technical support for network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Assist with basic cloud platform support for Microsoft Azure and Google Workspace.
- Troubleshoot common issues related to the Microsoft 365 environment (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams) and Google Workspace.
- Provide basic support for virtualization environments, including Microsoft Hyper-V and Microsoft Azure.
- Assist with troubleshooting for Windows Server environment issues (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS).
- Utilize PowerShell scripting for basic automation and support tasks.
- Utilize the RMM platform for remote monitoring and management of endpoints.
- Monitor and escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support teams.
- Document solutions and procedures for knowledge base articles.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and support activities on our PSA platform.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-6 years of technical support experience on an IT Team or MSP (Managed Service Provider).
IT Industry certifications are a desirable asset. ITIL, Microsoft, Network Administration Certifications.
- Understanding of network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, etc.).
- Familiarity with Datto, Fortinet and SonicWall firewalls, Meraki switches, and wireless access points.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Google Workspace administration.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace support (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams).
- Familiarity with Hyper-V virtualization technologies.
- Basic understanding of Windows Server administration (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS).
- Basic proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and support tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanour.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
DVET-Redaction Role: Digital Video Evidence Transcription, refers to the specialized unit responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of written records created from police-held audio and video.
Role (DVET) in Redaction
This team plays a critical, meticulous role in preparing digital evidence for court, public disclosure, or internal review.
- Transcription: The team's primary duty (DVET) is the transcription of digital recordings, such as Body-Worn Video (BWV) footage, police interview records, emergency calls, and surveillance audio.
- Quality Assurance (QA): The "QAT" function involves rigorously checking the transcripts for verbatim accuracy against the original audio/video, ensuring the written record is an exact and reliable representation for evidential use.
- Redaction: In the context of disclosure, this team redacts (blacking out or obscuring) sensitive information in digital evidence to comply with legal requirements, data protection laws, and court orders.
The QAT (DVET) acts as a specialized layer of administrative security, bridging raw digital evidence and legally admissible/disclosable documentation.

- This position requires Permanent Residency or Canadian Citizenship status.
- This position requires to go through a RCMP security clearance.
- This position requires to be onsite in Stand Off.
