Position Summary The Child & Family Jurisdiction Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Boston Bar First Nation’s jurisdiction-related activities, including organizing member engagement sessions, supporting research on traditional governance and child and family systems, preparing reports and communications, and assisting with logistics and documentation. The Coordinator plays a key role in supporting project planning, transparency, and communication with leadership, members, and partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities

- Support in implementing the jurisdiction work plan, including organizing meetings, tracking tasks, and preparing related materials.
- Coordinate and facilitate all member engagement activities related to jurisdiction planning, including scheduling, logistics, co-facilitation, and post-meeting summaries.
- Draft clear and culturally respectful communications to BBFN members, including updates, engagement summaries, and educational resources.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a jurisdiction communication system (e.g., secure email list, private social media channel, phone trees).
- Conduct research on traditional governance practices, child and family systems, laws, and values relevant to BBFN’s cultural framework.
- Support the development of briefing notes, funding proposals, and jurisdiction reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain organized and confidential records of engagement sessions, member input, and research documentation.
- Liaise with BBFN departments (e.g., Admin, Finance), Chief & Council, ISC, MCFD, other First Nations, and jurisdictional partners as required.
- Prepare and submit monthly updates to BBFN leadership and contribute to member reporting to ensure transparency and inclusivity.




- Participate in strategic planning sessions and other meetings as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support BBFN’s jurisdiction development and community goals.

Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, Social Work, or related field (or equivalent experience) would be an asset.
- 2+ years of experience in coordination, research, or project planning, preferably in a First Nations context.
- Experience in proposal writing, report development, and strategic planning
- Experience with budget tracking and basic program administration
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Nlaka’pamux culture, governance, and traditional values would be considered.
- Ability to build respectful, collaborative relationships with members, leadership, and external partners
- Strong planning, logistics coordination, and facilitation skills
- Strong research abilities, particularly related to traditional governance and child and family systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including ability to communicate complex topics to a broad audience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- High standard of ethics and demonstrated ability to handle confidential information

Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
