Torch Remote Camps is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team!

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for keeping our modular camp facilities, accommodations, and equipment safe, functional, and well maintained. This is a hands-on role for someone who can troubleshoot problems, perform general repairs, and take pride in maintaining a comfortable and safe camp environment.

Position Summary

Responsible for the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and general upkeep of modular camp buildings, accommodations, and related facilities.

Ensure buildings, equipment, systems, and common areas are safe, functional, clean, and maintained to company standards.

Respond to maintenance requests and complete preventative and corrective maintenance in a timely and professional manner.

Work independently and as part of a team in a remote camp environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections of modular buildings, rooms, common areas, mechanical spaces, and exterior areas.

Complete preventative maintenance according to established schedules and procedures.

Troubleshoot and repair general building maintenance issues.

Perform basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, sinks, drains, and water lines.

Perform basic electrical maintenance, such as replacing light fixtures, switches, outlets, and other minor components within the scope of training and authorization.

Repair and maintain doors, locks, hinges, cabinets, furniture, walls, ceilings, and flooring.

Conduct minor carpentry and drywall repairs as required.

Inspect and maintain heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems and report deficiencies.

Assist with the maintenance of boilers, water heaters, pumps, and other building systems where qualified.

Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls and urgent facility issues.

Identify safety hazards, building deficiencies, and equipment failures and report them to the appropriate supervisor.

Complete work orders, maintenance logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation.

Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, parts, and equipment.





Notify the supervisor when parts, materials, or specialized services are required.

Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.

Assist with building moves, modular setup, renovations, repairs, and demobilization activities when required.

Support camp turnover activities, including room inspections, repairs, cleaning, and preparation for incoming occupants.

Maintain exterior areas around modular buildings, including basic grounds and seasonal maintenance as required.

Follow all company policies, procedures, safe work practices, and client-specific requirements.

Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe work environment.

Maintain a clean, organized, and professional maintenance shop and work area.

Communicate effectively with camp management, operations, housekeeping, kitchen, logistics, and other departments.

Provide professional and respectful service to camp residents, clients, and coworkers.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preventative Maintenance

Conduct scheduled inspections of building systems and equipment.

Identify potential issues before they become major failures.

Perform routine servicing and minor repairs.

Maintain accurate preventative maintenance records.

Follow established maintenance schedules and manufacturer recommendations.

Escalate major repairs or specialized maintenance requirements to management.

Health, Safety & Environment

Follow all Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company safety procedures.

Participate in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, inspections, and training.

Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.

Ensure maintenance work is completed using appropriate lockout/tagout and safe work procedures where applicable.





Maintain a safe environment for camp residents, coworkers, contractors, and visitors.

Follow client and site-specific safety requirements at all times.

Qualifications & Experience

Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, modular buildings, camps, hotels, or a related trade.

Experience working with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, or general building systems is an asset.

Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to read and understand basic maintenance manuals, work orders, and procedures.

Ability to use common hand and power tools safely.

Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and respond to urgent issues.

Robust communication and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Previous remote camp or industrial-site experience is an asset.

Valid driver's licence may be required.

First Aid certification is an asset.

Trade certification or relevant technical training is an asset.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, equipment, and maintenance materials.

Ability to work from ladders and in confined or restricted areas where required.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in various positions for extended periods.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Ability to perform physically demanding maintenance tasks safely.

Work Environment

Remote modular camp environment.

May require rotational work schedules and extended periods away from home.

Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, weather conditions, mechanical equipment, and construction/maintenance activities.

Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change based on operational requirements.

Must demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist with various camp and facility maintenance needs.
