A vital component of this effort lies with the Signal and Communications (S&C) team, whose expertise ensures the safety and reliability of our signal systems through rigorous Transport Canada tests and inspections. S&C personnel play a critical role in the installation, repair, and maintenance of essential equipment, including signals, crossing lights, switch machines, and other vital infrastructure. Depending on experience and qualifications, individuals may hold the position of Qualified Signal Maintainer.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:Dig, cable repair, assemble and install signal equipment, pole line workRepair and/or replace damaged equipment, test and verify accurate operation of S&C systems and equipmentPerform preventive maintenance on all S&C apparatusPerform inspections and testing as required on each deviceReport problems; failures or unsafe conditionsEnsure there is enough material on hand to permit work or repairs to be completed without undue delayMake authorized corrections and modificationsAlign with company regulatory rules and policies to uphold safety and operational excellenceOther general duties can include cable locates, painting,
