Position Summary

As a Mechanical Helper, you will assist certified technicians with routine vehicle maintenance, diagnostic prep, shop organization, and basic mechanical repairs. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced helper looking to refine their skills, work on a variety of vehicles, and grow into a full-scale automotive technician.

Key Responsibilities

Assist lead mechanics with diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues across various vehicle makes and models.

Perform basic automotive service tasks, including oil changes, fluid flushes, tire rotations, mounting/balancing, and brake services.

Prep vehicles for service, perform multi-point inspections, and assist with shop clean-up and tool maintenance.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with safety standards.

Retrieve parts from inventory or local suppliers as needed to keep service bays running smoothly.

Operate basic shop equipment safely (hoists, tire changers, diagnostic scanners, hand and power tools).

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience:



Minimum of 2 years of hands-up experience working in an auto repair shop or automotive service environment.

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent; formal automotive vocational training is a plus.

Tools: Possession of a basic set of hand tools is preferred.

License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required for moving customer vehicles).

Skills: Solid understanding of basic vehicle systems (engine, brakes, suspension, fluid systems) and proper tool safety.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a rapid-paced shop atmosphere.
