Father Leo Green school is seeking a Media Resource (4) personnel to support the school library. Successful candidate is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school library, teacher resource centre and computer lab, including iPad kits, laptop carts and the laptop booking system. They will maintain and develop library and technology resources that support curriculum and student learning along with providing library and technology support to students and staff, supervising student use of the library and computer lab, and performing basic computer troubleshooting and maintenance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Library Operations
- Manage daily library operations, including cataloguing, classification, shelving, circulation, inventory and removal of materials;;
- Process new materials, including database entry, barcoding and labelling, and repair damaged books;
- Develop and maintain library procedures, policies and usage schedules;
- Maintain student records and issue identification and library cards;
- Monitor overdue materials and follow up as required;
- Maintain audiovisual equipment and perform basic computer troubleshooting and maintenance.
Purchasing and Budget
- Consult with the principal and teachers to identify library and resource needs that support curriculum and school programs;
- Research suppliers, pricing and appropriate resources;;
- Order approved materials and verify purchases against invoices;
- Monitor and maintain the library budget;
Orientation and Reference Support
- Assist students and staff in locating and using library, technology, audiovisual and electronic resources;
- Support students with library, web and reference searches;
- Provide orientation on library resources, systems and computer programs;
- Supervise students using the library and computer lab.
Inventory Control
- Maintain inventory of library, classroom and teacher resource materials;
- Track school technology, including computers, projectors, SMART Boards and related equipment.
Resource ,Volunteer and School Support
- Create and maintain displays and bulletin boards that support curriculum, school events, themes and seasonal activities;
- Consult with teachers and administrators to identify and develop appropriate display materials and resources;
- Coordinate, train and oversee volunteers, students and parents supporting library activities;
- Lead student groups involved in library operations and assign duties as required;
- Coordinate school book fairs, including setup, sales and revenue reconciliation;Support school events, celebrations and initiatives, including Read-In Week;
- Assist school staff during peak periods, special projects and absences.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma plus a diploma in Information Management, Library Technology or a related field, and three years of directly related experience;
- Knowledge of library automation systems,
inventory and records management, purchasing and financial procedures;
- Proficiency with computers, Microsoft 365 applications and basic technology troubleshooting;
- Knowledge of applicable privacy, access to information, workplace safety and occupational health and safety requirements;
- Understanding of Alberta curriculum, education policies and school/division operations;
- Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
