Aurea Technologies Inc. is seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in Defence products to join its creative team at Burnside Business Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. As a leader in portable renewable energy solutions, Aurea has developed the world's most powerful and user-friendly small-scale wind turbines. The successful candidate will contribute to developing our military-grade RISE Infantry Turbine as well as a non-defence version intended for backup power in remote residential areas and for disaster relief. This individual will be integral in producing complex CAD designs, running in-depth simulations, and participating in rugged field-testing deployments.Responsibilities:Develop and refine CAD models of wind turbine assemblies for prototyping and productionPrepare engineering drawings and documentation to support prototyping and scaled manufacturingCollaborate with the product development team to adapt features from RISE to non-defence consumer and commercial applicationsProduct testing, data collection, and troubleshooting in remote and off-grid field locations, including in adverse weather (rain, snow, high wind, sub-zero temperatures), involving travel to sites that may require hiking with equipment over uneven terrainIdentify and resolve mechanical design issues impacting product performance or production efficiencySupport compliance with CE, UL, CSA, MILSPEC, DEFSTAN, NATO, and other relevant certificationsSupport production readiness including tolerance stack-up analysis, fastener selections,



and BOM generationInterface with suppliers and internal procurement to ensure timely component sourcingMaintain version control and updates to mechanical designs as changes are implementedRequirements:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institutionMust have a P.Eng. designation (or equivalent, with eligibility for registration in Nova Scotia)At least 8 years of experience in mechanical design in a defence or aerospace R&D settingProficiency with CAD software (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor)Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding, casting, CNC machining, etc.)Must have experience with fatigue, heat, and structural analysisExperience in mechanical drawing interpretation, tolerance analysis, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancingExperience in renewable energy, field-ready technology, motor design, or rugged product design is a strong assetPrevious experience interpreting SOWs and working with a PM to develop a detailed work breakdown structure to accurately forecast delivery milestonesComfortable communicating with a wide range of stakeholders with the ability to defend design choices and explain technical limitationsMust be able and willing to travel and work in remote or austere environments for field testing purposesAdditional Attributes:Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a fast-paced teamOrganized, self-driven, and solution-orientedStrong communication and documentation skillsAdaptable and willing to grow within a dynamic cleantech environmentWe appreciate every application.
