We're looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone's journeys better. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for assuring compliance with all Quality/Food Safety and Safety SOPs, customer and regulatory requirements. You will also be responsible for managing a small team and supporting operational requirements.Main Duties and Responsibilities1. Executes and maintains the required food safety related procedures as defined in the unit HACCP plan and Food Safety Management System.2. Leads all QA and food/product safety related activities/initiatives, including but not limited to: external audits, document control, traceability and mock recall exercises, data analysis to identify risk trends.3. Leads a production team of up to 8 employees and supports all operational requirements.4. Supports the safety program for all employees and ensures compliance.5. Develops and maintains key performance metrics as related to food safety, quality and labour controls.6. Continuously improves unit procedures for monitoring and ensuring conformance to specifications for our end-to-end process.7. Executes internal audits on the elements of food safety.8. Leads investigations of product defects, alleged food poisoning, foreign object etc.9. Maintains and manages the corrective action/preventive action (CAPA) system and facilitating corrective/preventive action activities with the leadership team.10. Assures the accuracy and compliance of HACCP records as defined in the corporate procedures.11. Educates (trains) unit staff and managers in quality and food safety related issues.12. Collaborates with building maintenance and sanitation teams to meet business needs and to ensure unit hygiene supports compliance with all food safety standards.13. Manage outside suppliers and vendors as it relates to QA and food safety.14. Manage all expense and labour costs to meet budgeted targets.15.
Works to build team-cohesion throughout the Unit.Qualifications EducationBachelor's degree in food science or related fieldKnowledge of HACCP & ISO 22000Knowledge of PHAC regulationsBachelor's degree in safety, business operations or related field preferred and or four years comparable work experience in an operations manager role.Work ExperienceMinimum of 5 years quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment.Auditing experience.Proven ability to work with a team in a fast-paced environment.Proven experience in development and implementation of quality and food safety processes.Minimum five years prior experience managing teams in a unionized environment.Job SkillsMinimum skill requirements:Must have solid and effective leadership skills and the ability to successfully manage staff in a Unionized environment.Knowledge of quality auditing, inspection methodsStrong investigation and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and practical solutionsDetail-orientedStrong organizational skills, able to prioritize responsibilities and multi-taskStrong interpersonal skills, interacts well with others, influences all levels of the organizationIntermediate level Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook)Excellent reading, writing, and oral communication skills in EnglishAble to work with little supervision, is a self-starter in a fast paced, deadline driven environmentPrevious exposure/experience in LEAN manufacturing/supply chain is a plus.Preferred Skills/AttributesData-driven, analytical skills including basic statistics calculation,
