Multimedia Designer & Social Media Content Strategist

The Canal District is seeking a creative and versatile Multimedia Designer & Social Media Content Specialist to help bring our brands, venues and events to life. This position is ideal for a talented designer who understands social media, can create engaging digital content and has experience filming and editing video.

You will support the marketing needs of the Canal District and its associated businesses, including The Machine Shop, The Mill Steakhouse, The Boiler Room, The Blockhouse Pub, Soo Falls Brewing Company, The Gelato Mill, Outfitters and other Canal District operations.

Key Responsibilities

Design digital and print materials, including social media graphics, advertisements, posters, menus, signage and event promotions

Create, schedule and publish content across social media platforms

Develop engaging content that reflects the personality and goals of each Canal District brand

Film and edit short-form videos, promotional content, interviews, event recaps and behind-the-scenes footage

Produce content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and other platforms

Photograph food, beverages, events, venues, products and team members

Maintain consistent branding across all marketing materials

Assist with promotional campaigns, event launches and community partnerships

Monitor social media activity and help respond to messages, comments and audience engagement





Organize and maintain digital photo, video and design assets

Work collaboratively with management, event coordinators and operating teams

Required Skills

Experience in graphic design, social media management or digital content creation

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar design software

Experience filming and editing video using programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut or similar software

Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends and content formats

Excellent visual judgment, attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple brands, projects and deadlines

Strong written communication and basic copywriting skills

Photography experience is considered an asset

Experience in hospitality, entertainment, events or food and beverage marketing is considered an asset A portfolio or examples of previous design, social media and video work will be required
