DHL Express is seeking an Operations Supervisor (PUD Sort) at its Hamilton, Ontario facility (Mount Hope). This hands‐on supervisory role oversees the sortation of packages to assigned delivery routes within prescribed standards of cost, efficiency, accuracy, and on‐time distribution.ResponsibilitiesRecruit, orient, train, schedule, manage and recommend discipline for all operations staffEstablish and implement productivity, quality and cost measurements and strategies to achieve desired operational resultsCoach and develop team members through ongoing feedback and recognitionMonitor team progress against goals and targets on a regular basisEnsure timely and accurate distribution of inbound and outgoing freight daily in accordance with established standards and proceduresComplete accurate and timely reports for management (staff schedules, attendance records, payroll documentation, dangerous goods incidents, WSB reports)Ensure successful implementation and continued application of scanning technologyCommunicate corporate strategic plan and recognize individual and team contributions to motivate staffEnsure sufficient staff resources, materials and supplies on hand at all timesEnsure warehouse is organized and set up for next shiftMaintain equipment in protected,
efficient operating condition at all timesEstablish and maintain a proactive safety program in compliance with legislative requirements and the collective agreementImplement and follow up on Customer Service solutions as determined by Sales resource teamAddress customer complaints and escalated items in a professional, expedient mannerRequirementsExperience in a warehouse sortation capacityExperience managing Pick-up and Delivery operations is an assetMinimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management position (warehouse or logistics industry is an asset)Knowledge and compliance with Dangerous Goods / WHMIS special handling proceduresAbility to make quick decisions and be agile to changing circumstancesPrior working experience with lean / process improvement initiativesExcellent interpersonal skillsMust be able to work independentlyProven communication skills — written and oralWorking knowledge and interpretation of Collective Agreements and Occupational Health and Safety ActDemonstrated drive, initiative and flexibility to ensure task completionDemonstrated time management and organizational skillsCollege or University designationAll applicants are required to pass interviews, a criminal background check for all countries lived in for the past 5 years, and other background checks in order to qualify for the position.College or University designation; minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience in a warehouse or logistics environment; experience in warehousesortation; knowledge of Dangerous Goods/WHMIS; familiarity with Collective Agreements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act; lean/process improvement experience is an asset.
