Operations & People Leader

Sea to Sky Welding | Squamish, BC | Full time, in person

We are not looking for the person with the most welding tickets.

We already have talented fabricators, welders, designers, and technical people. What we need is someone who knows how to lead people, establish accountability, organize moving parts, and make a busy company run predictably.

Manufacturing experience would be helpful—but it is not required.

You might currently be running a restaurant, managing a construction crew, coordinating a mountain operation, leading a service department, overseeing logistics, or managing another fast-moving business. If you are smart, practical, calm under pressure, and good at getting the best out of people, we want to hear from you.

The opportunity

Sea to Sky Welding is an established, growing fabrication company serving structural, commercial, automotive, marine, and custom manufacturing customers.

We have strong technical capabilities, good equipment, interesting projects, and ambitious plans. Like many companies that have grown quickly, our management systems need to catch up with the business.

Your job will be to help us make that happen.

You will work closely with the owner and management team to:

- Establish clear responsibilities, priorities, and accountability.
- Improve communication between the office, design department, shop floor, and customers.
- Ensure jobs are properly planned before they reach production.
- Run effective scheduling and short daily production meetings.
- Identify problems early and ensure they are followed through to completion.
- Develop supervisors and lead hands into stronger leaders.




- Address performance issues directly, fairly, and consistently.
- Create practical systems that people will actually use.
- Help the company deliver quality work on time and profitably.
- Gradually take responsibility for day-to-day operations away from the owner.

The person we are looking for You do not need to know how to weld.

You do need to be someone who:

- Can earn the respect of experienced tradespeople.
- Communicates clearly and follows through.
- Is comfortable making decisions and having difficult conversations.
- Brings structure without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Can see both the immediate problem and the bigger picture.
- Holds people accountable without treating them poorly.
- Understands that a good manager works for the team—but does not do everyone’s work for them.
- Measures results instead of simply staying busy.
- Is curious enough to learn an unfamiliar industry.
- Leaves people, systems, and organizations better than they found them.

We care more about what you have successfully led than where you went to school. This role probably isn’t for you if:
- You avoid conflict and hope problems resolve themselves.
- You believe management means sending emails from an office.
- You need every decision approved before acting.




- You create complicated systems that nobody uses.
- You blame employees without first examining the process and expectations.
- You want the title but not the responsibility.

This is an in-person leadership position in Squamish. You will spend time with the people doing the work—not manage the company from behind a closed door.

Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
