Position Summary

Women’s Health in Women’s Hands Community Health Centre (WHIWH-CHC) provides racialized women, trans and non-binary clients from the African, Black, Caribbean, Latin American, and South Asian communities in Toronto and surrounding municipalities with culturally safe, relevant, and responsive primary healthcare. We are changemakers engaged in knowledge transfer and exchange, research, capacity building, and advocacy within and across multiple systems.

WHIWH-CHC is recruiting a highly motivated, professional and dynamic individual to join the team.

Position Description:

The Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) Program is a program in collaboration with CAMH, delivered at WHIWH-CHC. This program offers short-term cognitive behavioural therapy with a psychotherapist. The OSP Engagement and Assessment Counsellor will collaborate with the OSP team to increase screenings, assessments, and awareness about the program through culturally-relevant and tailored community engagement strategies.

Proficiency in Spanish is an asset, particularly in supporting culturally responsive care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Perform one-on-one screenings and assessments for clients with complex presentations, with flexibility to provide individual treatments and therapeutic interventions as needed.

· Develop and facilitate groups at the Centre using client-centered, trauma-informed and therapeutic modalities.

· Conducts trauma-informed biopsychosocial assessments.

· Co-facilitates therapeutic, psychoeducational, programs and groups as needed.

· Training on job-specific duties will be provided and participation in required training is expected as part of the position.

· Assist in client crisis and suicide intervention.

· Act as a client advocate on individual and systemic issues.





· Strong knowledge of the social determinants of health and issues that affect racialized communities.

· Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluationof treatment, education, counselling and health promotion programs and services for individuals, groups and the community.

· Engage community groups and networks in support of community initiatives.

· Ensures that required documentation is completed and available in the client’s health record in a timely manner that meets professional standards of practice.

· Initiate and coordinate participation in programs.

· Chart review and case conferencing with a continuous quality improvement (QI) focus.

· Maintains enthusiastic, passionate and self-driven work ethic.

· Other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), Registered Psychotherapist and/or has an approved equivalent of education and related experience
2. Member in good standing with a relevant regulatory body, including College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), or College of Psychologists
3. Able to communicate and work effectively in an interdisciplinary team setting and willingness to accept clinical direction.
4. A minimum of 1 year experience working in a non-profit and/or Community Health Centre workplace is an asset.
5. Advanced understanding and practical application of anti-oppressive practices, culturally-sensitive and client-centred care, social determinants of health,

Experience working with racialized populations and thorough knowledge of community resources/services available for our priority populations in Toronto
7. Ability to complete documentation in adherence with guidelines from College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)
8. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with crisis and conflict and to maintain appropriate boundaries
9. Able to plan, organize and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and takes initiative
10. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
11. Must be familiar with computer applications such as i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
12. Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends to meet programming needs
13. Proficiency in Spanish is an asset. Fluency in one or more languages represented within ACB communities is preferred.

REPORTING: This position reports to the Director of Population Health.
