Swahili Vision International Association (SVIA) is seeking a dedicated Outreach Support Worker for the Justice Pathways project. This is a part-time contract position operating at 14 hours per week, running from October 2026 to March 2027.

As a Black-led organization dedicated to assisting the Black community in British Columbia, we prioritize culturally responsive programming. Fluency in Swahili and/or French is strongly preferred to support our diverse participants.

The Outreach Support Worker will play a vital role in connecting with participants, supporting community engagement, and ensuring clients receive personalized guidance throughout their involvement with the justice system.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct proactive community outreach and build strong relationships to support project visibility and participant engagement.
- Coordinate, organize, and assist in teaching community workshops and information sessions.
- Provide direct support to clients, which may include accompanying them to court appearances or legal meetings.
- Support and guide volunteer mentors participating in the program.




- Collect, track, and manage program data and participant feedback to support monitoring and evaluation efforts.
- Perform other related duties and administrative tasks as required for the successful execution of the project.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Current enrollment in a social work, counselling, or related field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
- Robust understanding of the systemic barriers faced by marginalized communities within the Canadian context.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a compassionate and client-centred approach.
- Preferred fluency in Swahili and/or French.
- Experience in community outreach, workshop coordination, or direct client support is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for data collection and task management

Pay: $1,627.00 per month
