With the industry booming and our business growing fast, we're looking for individuals who are ready to make an impact and grow with us.About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Support Operator - Side Hoe to join our crews on various water, sewer, and underground construction projects.Reporting to the Foreman, the Support Operator plays an important role in supporting the mainline excavator and ground crew. The position involves operating different sizes of excavators, moving materials, supporting pipe installation, backfilling, and working safely around underground utilities and structures.The successful candidate will be a reliable and safety-focused operator who can work effectively as part of a busy construction crew.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate various sizes of excavators, including 311, 135, 225, 245,



and similar equipmentSafely operate equipment around underground utilities and existing infrastructureAssist the mainline excavator operator by moving spoil piles away from trenchesSupply sand and rock for pipe bedding as requiredLift and lower pipe into trenches to support the PipelayerOperate a hoe pack in tight areas and around structuresBackfill excavations as requiredAssist with excavation when required and when experience and skill level allowParticipate in morning toolbox talks and provide input on site activities and safetyComplete daily equipment upkeep, including:GreasingFuelingCleaningBasic equipment inspectionsCommunicate effectively with ground crews and other equipment operatorsFollow company safety policies, procedures, and site requirementsPerform other duties as assignedRequirementsMinimum 1 year of directly related equipment operating experienceExperience operating excavators in construction environmentsExperience working around underground utilitiesClass 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstractCSTS 2020WHMIS 2015Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. unaidedStrong safety awareness and attention to surroundingsAbility to work effectively as part of a construction crewReliable and willing to perform physical work when requiredPreferred QualificationsGround Disturbance Level 2Dozer and track loader experienceExperience working on water and sewer projectsExperience operating a hoe pack in confined or tight areasExperience working around trenches, piping, and underground structuresWorking ConditionsPhysically demanding work requiring standing, walking, kneeling, lifting, and other physical activity when outside the equipmentA large portion of the workday will be spent seated while operating heavy equipmentOutdoor work in all weather conditionsWork in dusty and underground environmentsWork around active excavations, underground utilities, heavy equipment, and construction materialsAbility to maintain a strong focus on safety and awareness of surroundings at all times
