The Senior Financial Analyst, Intangible Assets Accounting, plays a key role in supporting the financial reporting and accounting activities of the Canadian Tire family of companies. This position combines deep technical accounting expertise with strong business partnership capabilities to provide guidance on complex accounting matters, support strategic Information Systems initiatives, and ensure compliance with IFRS.The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to finance and business stakeholders, providing accounting guidance on intangible asset capitalization, contract assessments, and support to financial analysts.ResponsibilitiesEnsure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in compliance with IFRSAnalyze significant variances, business trends, and key performance indicators and communicate findings to managementSupport the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting analysisIdentify financial reporting risks and proactively recommend solutionsProvide expert accounting guidance related to the capitalization and ongoing accounting for internally developed and acquired intangible assetsProvide coaching, guidance, and technical support to financial analysts and cross-functional partnersBuild strong relationships across the organization and foster a collaborative, high-performing team environmentAdvise business partners on financial reporting requirements, project financial reporting assistance and non-property lease arrangementsResearch and interpret accounting standards and prepare accounting position papers and technical memosPartner closely with Information Systems, Procurement and other business teams to evaluate new initiatives and projectsTranslate complex accounting requirements into practical business solutionsIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls,
and reporting efficiencyLead and support process improvement initiatives involving complex financial models, data analysis, and automation opportunitiesEnsure key controls and documentation are maintained to support internal control and audit requirementsReview work prepared by other team members and provide constructive feedbackRequirementsUniversity degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related disciplineCPA designation (or equivalent professional accounting qualification) is requiredMinimum 4 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting or a large, complex corporate environmentStrong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirementsProven ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across multiple functionsExcellent attention to detailStrong interpersonal and communication skillsStrong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skillsExperience preparing technical accounting analyses and accounting memosExperience with accounting for intangible assets, technology investments, software development projects, and contractual arrangements is an assetAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suiteExperience with PeopleSoft, HFM, or other large-scale financial systems is an assetFamiliarity with internal and external audit processes is an assetBenefitsBroadband salary range: $64,000 - $106,000; typical hiring range $85,000 - $95,000Comprehensive perks and retirement programsPerformance incentives and Continuing Education ProgramsMental health benefit of $5,000 per year for benefits-eligible employees and familiesCareer growth opportunities and product discountsCanadian Tire Profit Sharing programTriangle Learning Academy accessUniversity degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA designation required; minimum 4 years of progressive accounting experience; strong IFRS knowledge; advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
