As part of the Thrift team, you'll help create a welcoming experience for customers and donors, build positive relationships within the community, and contribute to a purpose-driven organization where every donation makes a difference.Reporting to the Thrift Depot Manager, the Donations Associate screens, accepts, sorts, prices and stocks donations at the Thrift Shop Depot. They also provide exceptional customer service and support to our volunteers who assist in depot operations and contribute to a positive team environment.Perks Include:Making a difference in people's lives every dayComprehensive extended Health and DentalGenerous paid leaveDays/Hours of Work: Monday, Friday, Saturday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (24 hours per week). Interviews will be held on Tuesday, October 6.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for customers, staff, and volunteers at the Thrift Shop Donation DepotFollow Donation Safety Guidelines when accepting, sorting, and pricing sellable items,



and politely decline items that cannot be acceptedPrepare deliveries for the Brentwood Bay and Victoria Thrift Shops and transport items between all three Sidney Thrift Shop locations using a Beacon-provided vanMaintain attractive and organized retail displaysProvide excellent customer service through clear, friendly, and professional communicationSupport and assist volunteers to help ensure a positive experienceMaintain a clean and organized depot area, including daily garbage and recycling removalBuild and maintain positive relationships with customers, donors, co-workers, and volunteersPerform other duties as requiredQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:Class 5 Driver's license preferred but not requiredCustomer service experience is considered an assetSKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to carry out the physical requirements of the position, including:Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbsBe on your feet for the entire shift and in all weather conditionsSkilled at maintaining professionalism in stressful situationsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to effectively prioritize competing tasks and prioritiesADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Beacon Community Services serves vulnerable populations, including seniors, people with disabilities and children.
