Pavement Specialist

ASI Engineering is seeking a Pavement Specialist to apply technical knowledge to support the planning, documentation, assessment, and lifecycle management of roads and related civil infrastructure assets. This role is primarily office-based technical work.

The successful candidate will work with engineers, field inspectors, infrastructure owners and contractors to collect asset information, assess roadway conditions, interpret inspection data, produce technical reports and presentations, and make recommendations for maintenance, rehabilitation, and capital planning.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess and evaluate roads and related civil infrastructure assets.
- Analyze condition data or roadways and related structures collected through field inspections, AI-based video systems, LiDAR, GPS, GIS, imaging, and other automated inspection technologies.
- Develop and maintain road and civil infrastructure asset inventories, registers, GIS databases, inspection records, and condition information.
- Analyze asset condition, deterioration, risk, priority, remaining service life, and lifecycle requirements to support infrastructure management decisions.
- Develop and maintain asset condition-rating methodologies, inspection standards, data requirements, and quality-control procedures.
- Review inspection data for completeness, consistency, accuracy, and anomalies, and coordinate with field inspectors where additional information or verification is required.
- Monitor project scope, schedules, budgets, data requirements, and deliverables.
- Support quality-control reviews to ensure asset information and technical deliverables are complete, consistent, and accurate.
- Participate in client meetings and present technical findings and recommendations in explicit, practical language.
- Produce technical reports, presentations, maps, dashboards, and other asset-management deliverables.
- Occasional site visits may be required.

Qualifications





- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Transportation Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, Asset Management, or a related field.
- Understanding of roadway construction, pavement materials, civil infrastructure, drainage systems, and common roadway defects.
- Ability to interpret civil engineering drawings, plans, specifications, GIS information, and technical documentation.
- Understanding of roadway condition assessment, pavement management, infrastructure lifecycle planning, or municipal asset management.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large datasets and technical information.
- Strong communication, technical reporting, organization, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with LiDAR, GPS, AI-based inspection systems, roadway imaging, automated data collection, or other infrastructure inspection technologies is an asset.
- Knowledge of pavement condition ratings, deterioration models, lifecycle costing, or infrastructure risk assessment is an asset.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites when required.

Experience

- At least 4 years of experience in civil engineering, transportation infrastructure, construction, asset management, infrastructure inspection, municipal infrastructure, or a related field.
- Experience with roadway condition assessments, pavement management, civil infrastructure asset management, or capital planning.
- Experience working with GIS, infrastructure databases, inspection data,



or large asset datasets.
- Experience analyzing field-collected data and preparing technical reports and recommendations.

Working Conditions The position combines office-based analysis and reporting with occasional field inspections. Site, with occasional field inspections and site visits to complement technical analysis and maintain practical knowledge of roadway and civil infrastructure conditions. Pay: $75,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
