With the industry booming and our business growing rapid, we're looking for individuals who are ready to make an impact and grow with us.About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Mainline Excavator Operator to join construction crews working on various municipal water, sewer, road rehabilitation, and underground infrastructure projects.Reporting to the Foreman, the Mainline Excavator Operator is an important part of the field operations team. You will work closely with the ground crew to safely and efficiently excavate trenches and prepare them for the installation of water, storm, and sanitary sewer piping, manholes, and other structures.The successful candidate will have strong experience operating excavators in active construction environments and be comfortable working around underground utilities, traffic, and other site hazards.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate mainline excavators safely and efficientlyExcavate and slope trenches and ditches to the required gradeWork closely with ground crews to safely excavate around existing utilitiesAssist with the placement of water, storm, and sanitary sewer pipe within excavationsFollow directions from the ground crew regarding craning, sand and rock placement, and gradingMaintain accurate awareness of surrounding workers, equipment, utilities,



and site conditionsReview utility locates and complete Ground Disturbance PermitsParticipate in morning toolbox talks and provide input based on site conditions and experienceProvide leadership and safety guidance to other crew membersComplete daily equipment upkeep, including:GreasingFuelingCleaningPre- and post-trip inspectionsCleaning tracksFollow company safety policies, procedures, Safe Work Practices, inspections, and incident reporting requirementsOperate equipment safely around public roadways and traffic control personnelCommunicate effectively with flaggers and other workers on sitePerform other duties as assignedRequirementsMinimum 3 years of directly related experience in the water and sewer construction industryExperience with road rehabilitation, curb and gutter, asphalt breaking, and commercial construction projectsStrong experience operating excavators in underground constructionClass 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstractCSTS 2020WHMIS 2015Ground Disturbance Level 2Ability to safely work around existing underground utilitiesComfortable operating equipment on or near public roadwaysStrong understanding of construction site safety and proceduresAbility to work effectively with ground crews and follow directionStrong communication and situational awarenessPreferred QualificationsDozer and track loader operating experienceExperience with municipal water and sewer projectslExperience working around traffic control and flaggersAdditional heavy equipment certifications or trainingWorking ConditionsPhysically demanding work requiring standing, walking, kneeling, and other physical activity when outside the equipmentA large portion of the workday will be spent seated while operating heavy equipmentOutdoor work in all weather conditionsWork in dusty, underground, and confined environments, including sewer systemsWork around active excavation sites, underground utilities, heavy equipment, and construction trafficStrong focus on safety and awareness of surroundings at all times
