Full time, contract (three to four months with potential extension to six months)Position summaryReporting to the associate director, compliance and assessments, licensing, the compliance supervisor is responsible for ensuring that applicants and licensees of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC) are compliant with the legislation, bylaws, policies and standards that govern CPSBC.The compliance supervisor leads and supports the compliance monitor team to process complex applications, support the provisional class of licensure, review and follow up on responses on the annual licence renewal form, conduct regular licensee file review audits, respond to general queries from licensees usually related to scope of practice or change in scope of practice and currency in practice requirements, support both licensure and associate physician accreditation assessments, and support files that need to be referred to the Licence Committee.This role will also support the development and maintenance of policies, standards, and processes, along with CPSBC and departmental projects.Duties and responsibilitiesDuties include but are not limited to the following:human resource management (with input from the associate director, compliance and assessment, licensing):undertake regular meetings with staffprovide direction, support, training, mentoring and oversight to staff members as appropriateassign and monitor tasks as appropriatemonitor and provide input and feedback on staff performancepromote teamwork and collaborationlead and support processing complex applications:review applications and obtain relevant documents relating to matters such as, but not limited to, remedial activities, complaints, and investigationscreate agreement and authorization forms as required, and conduct necessary follow-up and monitoringsupport team with reviewing and summarizing significant and complex information into meaningful correspondencereview and approval of straightforward applicationsidentification and escalation of complex applicationsmonitor, identify, and follow up on files referred to the Licence Committeegenerate both operational and ad hoc reports as requiredlead and support monitoring the provisional class of licensure:ensure listed requirements of licensure are being met within given time framesensure adequate follow-up is occurring where listed requirements are not being met, including corresponding with licensees and health authoritiesmonitor, identify,



and follow up on files referred to the Licence Committeedraft general correspondence for the associate director and/or deputy registrar, licensingliaise with UBC on the BC Physician Integration Programgenerate both operational and ad hoc reports as requiredlead and support the annual licence renewal form development, implementation, and follow-upliaise with other CPSBC departments for work associated with the annual licence renewallead testing and communicationnotify licensees of penalties and status changes imposed due to non-completion of formrun weekly reports and review responses provided by licensees to determine whether additional information is requiredcoordinate corresponding with licensees via mail, email and telephone to obtain specific details and to advise them of CPSBC Bylaws and policieslead the necessary follow-up and monitoringdraft general correspondence for the associate director and/or deputy registrar, licensinggenerate both operational and ad hoc reports as requiredlead and support the team to conduct regular file audits and to provide overall support to licenseesconduct licensure file review audits to ensure compliance with legislation, bylaws and policiesanswer general licensure questionsliaise with other departments/organizationsmanage complex case files and escalationsensure file errors are corrected in a timely and accurate mannerprovide recommendations and implementation oversight of any policy and process changes to increase accuracysupport team with reviewing and summarizing significant and complex information into meaningful correspondencedraft general correspondence for the associate director and/or deputy registrar, licensinggenerate both operational and ad hoc reports as requiredlicensure and associate physician accreditation assessments:provide administration and coordination support for assessments, preparation of materials for review for Licence Committee, and follow-up actions as neededreview draft templates for assessments, communications to licensees/assessors/partners, pre/post materials for Licence Committeemonitor compliance with requirementsdraft general correspondence for the associate director and/or deputy registrar,



licensinggenerate both operational and ad hoc reports as requiredother duties include but are not limited to the following:participate in the development and recommendation of changes to policies, standards, procedural descriptions or summariesidentify issues for discussion at department meetingsdraft and respond to routine correspondenceconfer with Health Insurance BC (MSP) to resolve data transmission issueslead and/or assist with special projects related to the licensing departmentcoordinate existing or improved procedures with ITassist with calculating departmental statistics and reportingrepresent the licensing department with IT project development and implementationliaise and offer advice to CPSBC staff regarding independent practice as necessarySkills and qualificationsRequired skills and qualifications include:minimum of two to four years of relevant regulatory experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceminimum of two to four years of people leadership experience with a proven ability to mentor, motivate and develop staffbachelor's degree, or higher, is preferred or the equivalent in experience and qualificationsknowledge of CPSBC policies and procedures is an assetunderstanding of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the College of Family Physicians of Canada, for both scope of practice and examination application process, timelines, and format is an assetunderstanding of international medical graduates and acceptable pathways for licensure is an assetstrong analytical skills with the ability to seek out and offer solutions to complex compliance issuesexceptional organizational and communication skills, along with a keen attention to detail, to manage a high volume of work and set work prioritiesability to work independently, and as a team player, in a fast-paced environmentstrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Access, Word, and Outlookintermediate or advanced Microsoft Excel working knowledgefamiliarity with scientific/medical language is an assetexcellent oral and written communication skillsproven ability to perform multiple tasks, balance continuous demands and priorities and meet deadlinesstrong interpersonal skillsability to maintain a calm demeanor during busy or stressful timesability to exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority and protecting confidential information a mustinitiative and strong problem-solving skillsability to exercise tact and discretion when handling sensitive and/or confidential mattersThe compensation range for this position is based on an annual salary of $72,827 to $91,034 per year.
