We also offer a $400 Boot Allowance every two years to ensure employees have access to CSA approved safety boots.OUR OPPORTUNITYGovan Brown Edmonton is looking for an experienced Construction Estimator with a proven track record of estimating across a broad range of divisions for a variety of ICI (Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional) projects at the general contractor level, including tenant improvements, complex renovations, and ground-up recent builds. This is an existing prospect to leverage a passion for details and a deep understanding of construction methodologies to develop accurate and competitive estimates in a fast-paced workplace.Your responsibilities will include:Oversee and manage all aspects of the estimating and Pre-Construction process, from estimate preparation, subcontractor solicitation, through to subcontract buyout / contracting.Work with project management and business development to determine budgeting, general conditions and strategic position for project opportunities being consideredIdentify and select highly qualified subcontractors and solicit competitive pricing for tendersRead, interpret and understand contract drawings and specifications,



and maintains conformance with same during work processesConduct thorough analysis of tender drawings and prepare detailed/accurate quantity takeoffsReview the project plans and specifications and comment on the design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems.Participate in pre-construction process, including attending meetings, preparing and presenting budget, value engineeringExperience with lump sum and construction management projectsWHAT YOU BRINGMinimum 5 years of construction estimating experience across a broad range of divisions, including ICI interior fit-outs and new build projectsDegree or diploma in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or a related fieldGold Seal Certification in Estimating and/or Quantity Surveyor designation considered strong assetsProficiency in computerized estimating software and toolsSolid understanding of construction drawings, technical specifications, and trade scopes of workFamiliarity with various contract models including Construction Management, Lump Sum, and Design-BuildStrong knowledge of local market conditions and pricingStrong relationships with local sub-trades and suppliersExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and gain the respect of clients, consultants, and internal teamsProven ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlinesYOUR WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENTThe office is located at 10171 Saskatchewan Drive NW, Edmonton.Exposure to construction work site environment in all seasons.On-site.
