Overview

We are excited to be seeking a Process Technician to join our team at +osb!

The Mold Setup / Process Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient setup, startup, processing, troubleshooting, and operation of injection molding equipment.

This role is critical to ensuring molds are installed correctly, processes are established and maintained, and production consistently meets quality, cycle time, scrap, and productivity standards.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and experienced with injection molding machines, molds, auxiliary equipment, and the processing of thermoplastic materials.

Responsibilities

- Perform mold changes, including removal, installation, clamping, and connection of molds.
- Complete machine and mold setup according to production schedules and documented process requirements.
- Connect water lines, hydraulics, pneumatics, hot runners, thermolators, dryers, loaders, and other auxiliary equipment as required.
- Perform machine startups and establish stable molding processes.
- Set and adjust process parameters including temperatures, pressures, speeds, shot size, cushion, cooling time, hold pressure, and cycle time.
- Troubleshoot molding defects including short shots, flash, burns, sinks, warpage, splay, dimensional issues, and other processing concerns.
- Monitor production processes and make adjustments when required.
- Verify first-off parts and work with Quality to obtain approval before full production.
- Ensure established process parameters are maintained throughout the production run.
- Identify mold, machine, material, or process issues and communicate concerns to the appropriate departments.
- Assist with minor mold and machine troubleshooting and coordinate repairs with Tooling or Maintenance when required.
- Ensure molds are properly cleaned and prepared before being returned to storage.




- Maintain proper housekeeping and 5S standards around molding machines and mold-storage areas.
- Complete required production, setup, process, scrap, and quality documentation.
- Support operators with machine operation, part-quality expectations, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on reducing setup times, scrap, downtime, and overall manufacturing costs.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

- 3–5 years of hands-on injection molding experience in a setup, processing, or technician role preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of injection molding processes, scientific molding principles, process control, and thermoplastic materials.
- Experience performing mold changes, machine setups, startups, and process adjustments.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot molding defects and process-related issues.
- Experience with hydraulic and/or electric injection molding machines.
- Familiarity with hot runners, thermolators, dryers, material loaders, grinders, and other molding auxiliary equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, process sheets, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to quality, safety, and detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize production requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.




- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to train and support molding operators.
- Experience operating overhead cranes and/or forklifts is an asset.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles is an asset.
