Position Overview We are seeking a
detail-oriented Bookkeeper
with approximately 2 + years of hands-on experience
in a public accounting or CPA firm environment. This role is focused on
full-cycle bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reporting
for a portfolio of clients. The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple clients in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate general ledgers for multiple clients
Record day-to-day financial transactions (AP, AR, payroll, expenses)
Perform monthly reconciliations (bank, credit card, intercompany accounts)
Prepare and post journal entries and working papers
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues proactively
Support accountants with year-end file preparation
Tax & Compliance Support
Prepare and assist with
GST/HST filings
Support
T1 and T2 tax preparation
(working papers and documentation)
Assist with payroll remittances and statutory filings (WSIB, CRA, etc.)
Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and tax requirements
Client Support
Communicate with clients to collect financial data and documentation
Perform bookkeeping clean-up and catch-up work when required
Maintain organized digital records and ensure confidentiality
Qualifications
Minimum
3 years of bookkeeping experience , ideally in a CPA firm
Strong understanding of
full-cycle bookkeeping
Experience with
GST/HST and basic tax support (T1/T2 exposure preferred)
Knowledge of
Canadian payroll and compliance requirements
Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, etc.)
Experience with tax software (TaxPrep, Profile, etc.) is an asset
Post-secondary education in Accounting or related field
