Job Summary

Directs, plans, assigns, and monitors daily production operations across screen printing, embroidery, and digital decoration methods, including direct-to-garment (DTG) and direct-to-film (DTF). Determines workflow priorities in conjunction with optimizing the daily production schedule across a hybrid decoration floor.

Directly responsible for implementing all company policies, procedures, and safety rules for production personnel. Supervises all activities of the production staff by performing the following duties personally or through delegation, and serves as the primary link between production capability and the sales/customer service functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Inspects screen-printed, embroidered, DTG-printed, and DTF-applied products to verify quality, craftsmanship, and adherence to work order specifications.
- Understands the daily production schedule and proactively organizes workflow across all decoration methods for on-time delivery.
- Enforces company policies and safety regulations, including proper handling of chemicals, film, adhesive powders, and heat-press equipment.
- Assigns production personnel to specific work tasks and reallocates labor across departments as order mix shifts between screen print, embroidery, and digital.
- Inspects and approves initial order set-ups, including screen registration, embroidery hooping, and DTG/DTF file staging and press settings. Continually monitors operations for quality and consistency.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and print quality, including evaluation of new decoration technology and capital equipment.
- Manages transfer inventory and film library for DTF production, including pre-printed stock for reorders and small-batch drops.
- Monitors first-run and in-process quality control checkpoints and empowers operators to stop and correct issues before an order is fully run.
- Resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems; escalates equipment or vendor issues as needed.
- Motivates department staff to achieve production, quality, and on-time delivery goals.
- Maintains time, production, and scrap/reprint records; uses shop management software to track job status and throughput.
- Confers with other supervisors, scheduling, and customer service to coordinate activities across departments and communicate capacity constraints.
- Performs the duties of workers supervised as needed to cover absences or meet deadlines.




- Supports a culture of continuous improvement, cross-training operators across decoration methods to build a flexible, multi-skilled production team.

Supervisory Responsibilities This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of supervisory and non-supervisory personnel within the departments listed.

The individual carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business, Production Management, or a related field from a four-year college or university; or three to five years of production management experience in screen printing, embroidery, or digital garment decoration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Hands-on familiarity with DTG and DTF workflows (pretreatment, RIP software, film/powder handling, curing) is strongly preferred given the shift toward hybrid decoration models. Strong skills in work planning and scheduling, and sound judgment of color, design, and production quality across print methods.

Technology and Systems Skills

- Working knowledge of shop management / order tracking software (e.g., production dashboards, job routing systems).
- Familiarity with RIP software and color management workflows used in DTG and DTF production.
- Comfortable using digital job tickets, tablets, or shop-floor scanning systems in place of paper travelers.

Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.



Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical production and costing situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables across multiple decoration processes running concurrently.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and heat, and may be exposed to chemicals associated with screen printing, DTG pretreatment, and adhesive powders used in DTF production. The noise level in the work workplace is usually moderate to loud.
