Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for an Engineering and Operations Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team in Pointe-Claire, QC.The Engineering and Operations Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. Engineering and Operations Technicians are Amazon's front line respondents for electrical and mechanical issues affecting Amazon's availability.This position requires that the candidate selected obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada. Bilingualism in French and English is required for this position.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary business interface with the Colocation provider's technical and facility teams to address day-to-day operational requirements within the Availability Zone (AZ)Supervise the in office Colocation providers and respective contractors to ensure all works performed comply with established practices, procedures, and local legislationManage Colocation suppliers to conduct routine maintenance and respond to emergency services for critical systems including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, and building monitoring systemsGenerate change management requests and incident management tickets for Data Center facilityEngage in non-office on-call responsibilities and respond promptly to emergency situations or incidents such as power failures or natural disasters,



and review to refine the established Emergency Operations ProceduresDeeply involve with Colocation provider and contractors to resolve infrastructure engineering issues and conduct root cause analysis for operational issuesEstablish comprehensive English documentation for business and facility operations in partnership with the Colocation providerConstantly explore and recommend improvements to enhance the data center safety, security, and availabilityMaintain accurate and up-to-date Data Center infrastructure inventory through related matrices and internal dashboardsTake charge of the installation of the racks and conduct rack space, power/cooling assessmentsLead new build and expansion projects to improve operations efficiency, including the design, implementation, and commissioning phasesAssist in internal recruitment including conducting interviews and assisting with onboardingBasic QualificationsKnowledge of electrical systems in critical Data Center operations including utility substation feeds, transformers, switchgear, VFI Class UPS, DRUPS, PDUs, ATS, STS, SLA/VRLA batteries and associated systems, diesel/gas turbine generators and related fuel systems, Surge Suppression, Active Harmonic Filtering, battery monitoring systems, branch circuit monitoring systems, or SCADA systemsMinimum 3 years of relevant work experience with facility management, and operating and maintaining infrastructure equipment in critical facilities such as data centers, operation factories, substations, hospitals, etc.Experience in major facilities incident managementBilingualism in French and English is required for this positionPreferred QualificationsGood work attitude and eagerness to learn, with deep attention to details and accuracy; strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team playerBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fieldMinimum 3 years of relevant experience in facility management and infrastructure equipment operation and maintenance in critical facilities. Knowledge of electrical systems including UPS, switchgear, generators, PDUs, ATS, STS, SCADA. Bilingualism in French and English required. Must obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.
