Our client, a rapidly growing sports equipment retailer, is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to become the first dedicated member of its Purchasing function.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will be responsible for managing the complete Procure-to-Pay (P2P) cycle for inventory purchases, ensuring purchase orders are accurately created, tracked, reconciled and closed. The successful candidate will take ownership of the entire PO lifecycle, including PO creation, supplier follow-up, receipt verification, three-way matching, invoice reconciliation and PO closure, helping to ensure purchasing transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. A key focus of the role will be reviewing and cleaning up existing purchase orders, resolving discrepancies and maintaining accurate purchasing records within NetSuite.

Working closely with suppliers, Operations, Receiving, and Finance the Purchasing Specialist will ensure inventory purchases move seamlessly from requisition through payment while maintaining the integrity of purchasing data. As the company's first dedicated purchasing hire,



this individual will play a vital role in supporting a growing business and establishing a strong purchasing presence within the organization through accurate execution and ownership of day-to-day procurement activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Purchasing Specialist or Senior Purchasing Coordinator within a retail, wholesale, distribution or inventory-driven environment. Having a robust appeal towards Hockey Equipment is an asset.

Experience purchasing sporting goods, hockey equipment or other retail consumer products would be considered a strong asset. Candidates must possess hands-on experience managing the full P2P cycle, high-volume inventory purchase orders, three-way matching, PO clean-up activities, supplier communication and ERP systems, preferably NetSuite. Individuals who can demonstrate ownership of the complete purchase order lifecycle, from PO creation through successful closure is key.
