Position Summary The Quality/Sustaining Engineer will support the mass scale-up of downhole tool products in a manufacturing facility and drive quality, testing, process improvement, and engineering change initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with manufacturing, procurement, quality, vendors, and engineering teams while supporting product development, operational excellence, testing, inspection, traceability, and continuous improvement activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

· Support mass scale-up of downhole tool product in a manufacturing facility. Implement process improvements in preparation for large-scale physical automation.

· Must possess a degree in mechanical, mechatronics,



or manufacturing engineering as well as a P.Eng designation.

· Sufficiently understand product function and the impact of various manufacturing processes on failure modes.

· Develop, maintain, and improve production testing procedures. Onboard, train, technically support, and audit vendors on current procedures and reporting requirements. Occasional short-term travel to the Edmonton area will be required.

· Analyze and audit aggregate production testing and inspection data, using data to support technical decisions. Experience in statistical analysis of large populations is an asset.

· Participate in and automate the material test report approvals process employing the use of AI where possible. Familiarity with API 5CT, Charpy, and material test reports is an asset.

· Assess for and implement engineering changes to reduce NCR rates.

· Possess excellent relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders of processes, proposing practical solutions to competing interests, and collaborating cross-functionally with vendors, procurement, quality, and LEAN departments.

· Exhibit high responsiveness to vendors as well as a high personal standard for thoroughness.

· Prepare engineering change reports for review and release.

· Manage change of complex improvements through the organization.

· Ensure chains of traceability are maintained, designing systems that ensure adequate production sampling is achieved.

· Occasional CAD modelling, drawing drafting (SolidWorks and PDMVault),



and improvement of various parts required within the manufacturing business. Examples may include design improvements to products for cost/reliability, assembly or production testing tools and fixtures. Solid knowledge of GD&T; and physical inspection is an asset. Experience in metrology is an asset.

· Completions or drilling downhole tool experience is an asset.

Qualifications & Experience

· Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline.

· Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.

· Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities while working in a fast-paced environment.

· Statistical analysis of large data populations preferred.

· API 5CT knowledge preferred.

· Charpy testing knowledge preferred.

· Material test report experience preferred.

· AI-enabled engineering/process improvement experience preferred.

· SolidWorks and PDMVault experience.

· GD&T; expertise.

· Metrology experience preferred.

· Downhole completions or drilling tool experience strongly preferred.
