DescriptionPosition: Jr People GeneralistDepartment: PeopleReports to: People GeneralistTerm: 12 Months (Maternity Leave Coverage)Position Summary:The Jr People Generalist provides first line support to employees and managers of Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CSE), our sister company, Toptable Group (TG) and will be responsible for supporting various HR programs and initiatives. This role will coordinate recruitment activities for both full-time employees of CSE and hourly employees of TG and will assist with labour and employee relations issues, as well as various proactive people initiatives.This is a term position covering a maternity leave.Provides HR services to employees and managers of Canucks Sports & Entertainment and Toptable Group and support to other senior members of the People TeamExecutes innovative recruitment strategies to attract best-in-class full-time and event staff of Rogers Arena and Toptable restaurantsAssists in the event staff job fair program at CSE, always exploring ways to improveAssists in the administration of CSE and Toptable health & welfare advantages program for all FT employeesConducts reference checks and drafts employment agreements as requiredIn collaboration with the VP, People and People Generalist administers the terms of the collective agreement and other employee relations statutes, provides guidance to managers, and assists People Generalist with fact gathering on various LR issuesDevelops a collaborative relationship with the Union and takes a proactive approach to issue resolutionsHandles first step employee grievances and collaborates with VP, People and People Generalist on investigations, as requiredWorks event-time, as required,



at Rogers Arena to provide support and engage with staff and managers to build collaborative relationshipsProvides support and backup to members of the People Team, as requiredOversees special projects and perform other related duties, as requiredRequired Experience and Qualifications:1-2 years' HR generalist experience, preferably in a unionized workplace, with a Certificate or Diploma in a human resources related program, or a combination of education and experienceExperience in a similar role; an understanding of interpreting and administering a collective agreement is a robust assetDemonstrated experience introducing creative ideas for recruiting in a challenging labour marketDemonstrated experience investigating incidents, following appropriate process, reporting on outcome and effectively bringing to resolution, is a strong assetA positive self-starter, with an eagerness for constant improvementA customer-first orientationAttention to detail with exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-taskExcellent written and verbal communication skillsEnergized by an event-based environment and non-standard work scheduleA passion for a high energy, fast paced work environmentViews changing priorities, sometimes last minute, with a positive attitude and approachExperience with HRIS systems and a strong aptitude for HR database concepts is preferredStrong proficiency with MS Office, particularly Word and ExcelAbility to work evenings and weekends as requiredVancouver is one of the most diverse cities in the world and Canucks Sports & Entertainment strives to create a workforce that is inclusive, equitable, and represents our beautiful, unique community.
