Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Rug Handler & Front Desk Associate to join our rug cleaning shop. This dual role combines hands-on rug inspection and handling with front-desk administrative support. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with rugs (inspecting, tagging, moving) as well as managing customer interactions, phones, and basic office tasks. Experience in either area is a plus, but not required — we'll train the right person.

Responsibilities

Rug Handling & Inspection

- Inspect incoming rugs for size, material, existing damage, stains, odors, and special care needs; document findings and photograph as needed
- Tag and log rugs into our tracking system upon drop-off or pickup
- Safely move, roll, and store rugs of varying sizes and weights
- Assist with loading/unloading rugs for pickup and delivery
- Communicate inspection notes to the cleaning team (e.g., natural fiber, pet odor, delicate material)
- Perform basic quality checks before rugs are returned to customers

Front Desk & Administrative

- Greet customers professionally at the front desk and ensure a welcoming setting
- Manage phone calls, screen inquiries,



and direct calls appropriately
- Enter customer and job data accurately (drop-off details, pricing, pickup/delivery info)
- Schedule appointments, pickups, and deliveries; manage calendar
- Handle basic billing and payment processing
- Respond to customer inquiries about pricing, timelines, and rug care
- Maintain a clean, organized front desk and back-office/storage area

Requirements

- Strong attention to detail, especially for inspecting materials and identifying damage/stains
- Comfortable with physical tasks, including lifting and moving rugs (up to [X lbs])
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Basic computer skills (data entry, scheduling software, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace)
- Ability to multitask between customer-facing and hands-on duties
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Prior experience in rug/carpet cleaning, textiles, or retail is a plus but not required
- Prior reception, retail, or customer service experience is a plus but not required

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
