This person will act as the technical counterpart to Sales and Business Development, supporting customers and partners across the residential energy ecosystem.The role combines deep technical knowledge with customer-facing work, including product demonstrations, technical discovery, partner presentations, webinars, proposals and hands‐on support during customer and partner integrations.What you'll doSupport sales to installer, home builder and other channel partners, as well as automotive, utility and energy‐industry partnersLead technical discovery and qualification with prospective B2B customersDeliver product demonstrations, technical presentations, webinars and deep-dive sessionsSupport technical product sales to utilities and aggregators, EV manufacturers, residential solar and storage companies, and other energy‐industry partnersAct as the technical voice during customer conversations, answering detailed product, integration and deployment questionsOwn the technical content of customer proposals, including RFI, RFP and RFQ responsesSupport technical content for relevant grant and funding opportunitiesWork closely with Sales and Business Development throughout the pre‐sales processLead technical presentations and deep-dive sessions with utilities, aggregators, automotive OEMs and other strategic partnersSpecial PerksYou'll join a growing company working at the intersection of residential energy, electrification, EV charging, solar and energy storage.
You'll work closely with experienced energy professionals and major industry partners while helping bring next‐generation home‐energy technology to market.Must Have SkillsWhat we're looking for7–10+ years of experience in a technical, product‐focused pre‐sales or applications engineering role within the energy industryDemonstrated experience supporting technical product sales rather than traditional B2B solution sellingDirect experience with distributed energy resources such as solar, battery storage, EV charging and/or V2XFirst‐hand field experience involving commissioning, installation oversight, site troubleshooting and/or utility pilot deploymentsStrong working knowledge of power electronics, including inverters, bidirectional DC/DC and DC/AC conversion, protection and safetyKnowledge of EV charging communication protocols such as ISO 15118 and DER integration protocols such as IEEE 2030.5 and OpenADRAbility to troubleshoot and debug integrations rather than simply explain the underlying protocolsWorking knowledge of IoT and site‐level communication protocols such as MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, SunSpec and Zigbee/MatterComfortable working with logs, packet captures, API documentation, and lab or field test setups to diagnose technical issues with customers and partnersWhat you'll bringStrong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to confidently lead technical webinars, partner presentations and live product demonstrationsAbility to adjust technical depth depending on the audience, from utility program managers and OEM engineering teams to installersAbility to operate independently as the technical lead in customer‐facing conversationsStrong problem‐solving and troubleshooting skillsAbility and willingness to travel approximately 25% or more, primarily within the U.S.
