The Contract Maintenance Worker has specific responsibility for the maintenance and physical condition of properties that make up the Ecuhome portfolio. The Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring that the physical conditions of Ecuhome properties are maintained to Ecuhome standards and in accordance with all municipal and provincial housing/building regulations. The Maintenance Worker is also responsible for providing maintenance service to tenants in a manner that promotes quality of life.Property Maintenance:Responsible for maintaining the quality of Ecuhome's housing including:Carrying out all required maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned including, performing basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, janitorial and mechanical repairsClean-up and preparation of rooms to Ecuhome standards prior to tenant occupancyKeeping up-to-date with all safety, fire and building code requirements and all other relevant legislative requirementsCompleting monthly fire and other inspectionsRegularly observing condition of houses/buildings and reporting any issues of concern to the Property and Maintenance CoordinatorParticipating as part of the maintenance team in identifying preventative and on-going maintenance needsEnsuring that established standards and guidelines are properly adhered to, such as, Fire and Building Codes, Health and Safety etc.Preventative Maintenance:Responsible for preventative maintenance activities including:Working with tenants and Housing Support Workers to ensure Ecuhome houses and the surrounding properties are maintained in a manner that promotes the quality of life for tenantsMaking regular inspections of grounds, buildings, plumbing, electrical fixtures,



appliances and major equipmentEmergency Maintenance:Responsible for carrying the after hours emergency pager as scheduledAssessing emergency situations, responding to calls as necessary and recommending action to be taken to the CoordinatorMaintaining knowledge of the location of power, water and gas turnoffs and fire extinguishers in all Ecuhome propertiesHealth and Safety:Comply with in Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ecuhome's Health and Safety Policy and ProceduresOther duties as assignedQualificationsMust have a reliable vehicleHigh school graduateMinimum of 2 years experience in the maintenance of multi-unit residential settingsMinimum of 2 years experience in routine maintenance and semi-skilled repairs in the areas of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general maintenanceDemonstrated organizational and administrative skills including verbal and written English communication skillsWorking knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation and codes governing housing/building safetyDemonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to positively interact with a tenant population where mental health and addictions challenges are presentThis position is in the bargaining unit.Job Type: Contract for six (6)months, Full Time, Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pmSalary: $43,378.40 (2026 rate)Vehicle Allowance: $525.00 per month for time worked (A vehicle is required)Location: Properties in the old City of TorontoReports to: Maintenance ManagerEcuhome is committed to providing equal access to employment opportunities, promoting equal access to our programs, supports and services and identifying and removing any internal, systemic barriers to inclusion in all Ecuhome operations.
