The successful candidate will report to the Clinic Manager of the Medical Outpatient Unit at the Walter Mackenzie Health Center and the Adult Day Medicine at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. The incumbent will be required to work at both locations. These are fast-paced, high-volume environments requiring clinical excellence, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills.

The Registered

Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient needs through direct patient care and delegating tasks appropriately to maintain efficient clinic flow. The RN assesses patient/family education needs to plan, implement, and evaluate education strategies. The RN must be able to respond promptly and competently to adverse patient events.

Care is provided to a variety of patients from different adult specialties requiring IV Infusions such as chemotherapy, transfusion of blood components/products and specialty therapies. The RN must be competent in several medical procedures including but not limited to care and maintenance of Central Vascular Access devices (including blood withdrawal and occlusion management), therapeutic phlebotomy and complex wound care. The incumbent must possess strong de-escalation/conflict resolution skills, excellent time management, and prioritization abilities.

The Nurse must also be able to work independently and collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members and colleagues.

you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.

PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).

Current Basic Cardiac Life

Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications

Physical ability to perform CPR on Adult Clients is required. Must be able to lift and carry 10-15 kg regularly. Must be able to participate and perform hands on care of patients (i.e., transfers, bariatric client assistance, bending, twisting stooping) and to fulfill job requirements including but not limited to reaching above shoulders frequently, looking up frequently, long periods of keyboarding, walking long distances, and standing for prolonged periods of time.

Minimum of recent (within 2 years) adult acute care experience in Medicine, Surgery or ambulatory infusion clinic required. Competent in Peripheral Intravenous Access, Care and Maintenance of Central Venous Access Device is required. Recent (within 2 years) wound care assessment and management skills are required.

Competency (within 2 years) experience in administering chemotherapy via intravenous, oral, and subcutaneous routes with OPREP certification required.

Connect

Care experience is required, preference is Ambulatory Shared Clinic Nurse and Oncology/Hematology Infusion/Clinic Nurse. Must have excellent communication and documentation skills and the ability to participate as an interdisciplinary team member.

Experience in performing therapeutic phlebotomy.

Preferred Qualifications

Charge Nurse experience.
