External and internal applicants are now being considered.AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:Reporting to the Coordinator, this position provides direct supervision to contract, part-time and volunteer support staff to ensure quality program delivery and excellent customer service to meet current and changing needs of the community.This exciting new position will be responsible for the delivery of youth programming at the City of Brampton's newly developing youth hubs while building consistency and alignment in other recreation spaces operated by the Recreation Division. The programmer will also engage with youth and youth serving providers to ensure there are holistic services and programs offered for Brampton youth. The position will require being present at the site locations 5 days a week and will include evenings and weekends to ensure that the youth hubs are operating as envisioned and planned. Supervision of support staffRecruit, hires, trains and provides ongoing Supervision, Leadership, Coaching and Recognition to part-time and volunteersDevelopment of part-time staff and volunteers through seasonal trainings, and ongoing coaching and feedbackImplement and deliver ongoing communication plan to direct reportsAdhere to corporate, departmental, and divisional standardsManage adherence of governing legislations and regulations; corporate policies, procedures, standards and guidelines; governing body's standards and guidelines.Perform in accordance to facility Manager on Duty roles and responsibilities as requiredDevelop and deliver proactive and strategic recruitment and retention plan for part-time staff and volunteersEvaluate training needs, and manage execution of staff trainings, orientations and meetings2. AdministrationThorough documentation of coaching, feedback and training of part-time staff and volunteersVerification of part time payroll entry in accordance with staff schedulesPrepares for and follow-up on incident/accidents reporting and communicate timely bases on severitySessional reporting of program capacities on collection and analysis of data, customer satisfaction, revenue and expenses.Compile and review daily,



weekly and sessional statistics and checklistsTimely follow-up on program related refund requestsAdherence to all mandated deadlinesParticipation in any quality assurance programDevelop and monitor staff and volunteer schedules seasonally according to program needsProactive planning of upcoming sessionsEnsure program plans are created, communicated, and available for all program staffDocumentation of staff and volunteer trainings; ongoing monitoring of staff certifications, maintaining staff files and ensuring staff certifications remain currentEnsure all staff hiring packages are completed in a timely manner3. Customer Service and Community DevelopmentTimely and appropriate follow-up with customer concerns, requests, and inquiriesLiaising with internal and external groups as required related to programs, services and special eventsPlanning and delivering community special events in collaboration with facility and/or special events team.Deliver strategies to increase customer recruitment and retention through continuous improvement of customer experienceIn collaboration with the coordinator, foster and maintain ongoing excellent relationships with community partners.4. Program DevelopmentOngoing research, acquiring knowledge and expertise related to industry trends pertinent to portfolioLiaising with other facilities and lines of business to ensure a balanced consistent delivery of recreation programsConduct program quality assurance through ongoing program visits and observations, customer engagement and participation experience andAdhere to program development and brochure development processesExecute action plans to meet targets and potential growthAssist Recreation Coordinator with marketing and business planAttend school events, such as open houses, parent nights, and registration days, to support program participation and development5. BudgetMonitor and report on expenses and revenue actuals and forecast according to portfolioPurchases and manage inventory of program supplies and materialsAquatics: Must possess and maintain current certifications as follows:National Lifeguard – PoolStandard First Aid & CPR CLifesaving InstructorsLifesaving Swim InstructorsAquatic Supervisory Training or Aquatic Management TrainingAirway Management (or ability to obtain)The following certifications are considered an asset:HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development & QUEST 2National Lifeguard Instructor/ExaminerLifesaving Coach Level 1Lifesaving Society Instructor TrainerPool OperatorsAquatic Safety InspectorsAquatic Fitness Certification (e.G. CALA, Water Art or equivalent)Fitness:Current FIS or PTS certification with CanFit Pro and/or CSEP and/or equivalent certification with recognized affiliationGolf:Professional Golf Management diploma and full Class "A" CertificationPGA of Canada Class A memberNCCP Coaching CertificatePreferred Certifications, Designations or LicencesBronze Cross Examiner,



National Lifeguard Instructor, National Lifeguard Examiner, First Air Instructor, First Aid Examiner, BOAT Instructor, Boat Rescue Instructor, Instructor Trainer, Mental Health First AidSelection Criteria:Degree or diploma preferably in related field (i.E. Recreation & Leisure, Kinesiology, Physical Education)2 years of related programming and planning experience1 year of supervisory experienceWorking knowledge of related legislation, in applicable area of disciplineProficiency in MS OfficeCustomer service skills and experienceWritten and oral communication skillsMandatory Certifications, Designations or LicencesCurrent Standard First Aid/CPR-CValid Ontario non-probationary Class G Driver's License and have access to a vehicleAble to work variable, scheduled hours including evenings and weekends and be able to travel to various community centre locations.Additional InformationInterview: Our recruitment process may be completed with video conference technology.Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
