The program is designed to meet the needs of adolescent young offenders who have been sentenced to complete a portion of their custodial time in the community. ExCel Discovery is the only Open Custody group home in the province of Alberta. ExCel Discovery offers an integrated treatment setting with enhanced programming in the areas of addictions, education, mental health and reintegration.



The overall goal of the program is to support young offenders in successfully transitioning from being in secure custody, to life in the community.The PositionThis position will be based at ExCel Discovery and will include direct involvement and support of the program, staff team, youth, and community partners. This position will be part of the Enviros leadership team and will ensure that day-to-day operations follow program protocols and Enviros policy.ResponsibilitiesSupervise a team of staff members up to 12 individualsConsultation and reporting to the Custody Operations BranchCollaborating with the Calgary and Edmonton Young Offenders CenterEnsure all Accreditation standards are upkept and metCompletion and overseeing of documentation and case managementComplete scheduling to ensure program is properly staffedActive member of the leadership teamOversee and approve staff timesheets, and time-offSupports group care on-call on a rotational basisAttend all leadership meetingsConduct staff meetingsAlong with the program manager, ensure that the budget is reviewed and adhered toProvide regular supervision of staff membersProvide support when needed to clientsRecruitment,



staff performance evaluations and staff training as required by CAC guidelines and ensure all staff training are currentOversee household health and safety standards and overall housekeeping dutiesCompetenciesStrong communication skillsSubject matter expert on child and youth care programsDetail oriented with strong organizational skillsSupportive leader that encourages ongoing staff developmentAble to adapt to changing situationsOpen CommunicationAble to provide effective feedback and supervision to staffEducation & ExperiencePost-secondary education in a Human Services related fieldExperience And Demonstrated Skills In Supervising StaffExperience working with youth affected by traumaExperience/ Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act is considered an assetCPR and first aid certificationOther QualificationsValid Class 5 driver's license ( Class 5 GDL will not be accepted)A clean driver's abstract containing not more than two (2) minor offences or one (1) major offencePolice Record Check with Vulnerable sector check ( within six (6) months)Child Intervention Check (within six (6) months)Salary: $60,000 – $67,000 annuallyPre‐Employment Background Check RequirementsIntervention Record Check (IRC)Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)Both checks must be completed prior to the employee's start date.
