Bring Your Sales Drive to a Growing Canadian Marine Manufacturing Company
Sideshift designs and manufactures aftermarket bow and stern thruster systems that give recreational boaters greater control, confidence and manoeuvrability on the water.
Our Canadian-made products are sold in more than 60 countries and have earned a solid reputation for performance, value and straightforward retrofit installation.
We have a proven product, an established customer base and significant opportunity ahead. We’re growing our direct-to-consumer business, strengthening relationships with dealers and installers, and expanding our presence in the recreational boating market.
We’re looking for an experienced, energetic Sales Executive who genuinely enjoys selling and wants to play a direct role in that growth.
Marine experience is not required. Proven sales experience is.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on sales role for someone who enjoys the pursuit, the conversation and the satisfaction of closing business.
You’ll work directly with boat owners, dealers and installers to understand their needs, recommend the right Sideshift solution, prepare quotations and guide opportunities through to a decision.
We generate inbound sales opportunities, but success also requires initiative. You’ll actively pursue prospects, re-engage open quotations, develop relationships and identify opportunities to grow both direct and channel sales.
You don’t need to arrive as a marine expert. You do need to be interested in how things work, comfortable learning a technical product and able to turn that knowledge into a clear and compelling sales conversation.
Your job is straightforward: understand the customer, earn their confidence, communicate the value of the product and close the sale.
What You’ll Own
- Manage the complete sales process from initial inquiry through qualification, recommendation, quotation and close
- Respond quickly and professionally to a high volume of inbound sales inquiries
- Proactively pursue prospects and open quotations until a decision is reached
- Generate additional opportunities through referrals, lead follow-up and channel development
- Build relationships with boat owners, marine dealers, installers and other industry partners
- Ask effective questions to understand each customer’s boat, needs, timing and buying motivation
- Recommend the appropriate Sideshift solution and clearly communicate its value
- Prepare accurate quotations and identify relevant cross-selling and upselling opportunities
- Handle objections, create momentum and confidently ask for the sale
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline in HubSpot, including customer interactions, deal status and next steps
- Track conversion rates, sales cycle length and pipeline health, and provide regular sales forecasts
- Work closely with engineering, production and operations when additional technical expertise is required
- Support a smooth customer handoff and strong post-sale experience
- Bring ideas, initiative and energy to Sideshift’s continued growth
Who Will Thrive Here You get energy from selling and are motivated by results. You’re comfortable picking up the phone, starting conversations, asking good questions, handling objections and asking for the business.
You take ownership of opportunities rather than waiting for customers to call back or allowing promising conversations and quotations to disappear.
You’re mechanically curious and comfortable getting into the details of a technical product. You may already understand engines, battery systems, electrical products or other mechanical equipment—or simply have the aptitude and interest to learn.
Sideshift customers care deeply about their boats and expect knowledgeable, responsive and professional service. You know how to build rapport and credibility while keeping the sales process moving.
You’ll also be comfortable in a small, growing company where people collaborate closely, take responsibility and contribute beyond the narrow boundaries of their roles.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of proven experience in inside sales, B2B sales, consumer sales or a similar direct sales role
- A demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding individual sales targets
- Experience managing a sales pipeline from lead qualification through close
- Proven ability to manage and convert a high volume of inbound inquiries
- Genuine enthusiasm for sales and a strong desire to win business
- Confidence initiating conversations, handling objections and asking for commitment
- Strong follow-up discipline and the ability to keep multiple opportunities moving
- Mechanical or technical aptitude and an interest in understanding how products work
- Ability to explain technical information clearly and practically
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a polished, credible and personable style
- Sound judgement and the ability to balance persistence with professionalism
- Experience using a CRM to manage opportunities, activities and next steps; HubSpot experience is an asset
- Comfort working with sales metrics including conversion rates, pipeline value and sales cycle length
- Adaptability and self-direction in an environment where processes, tools and lead volumes continue to evolve
