DRS Pivotal Power is part of the Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics group and has currently over 30,000 fielded units boasting a field reliability of over 99%.Job SummaryReporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the Intermediate PCB Designer is responsible for the design of complex mixed-signal, multi-layer SMT and thru-hole printed circuit boards (PCBs) using Altium Designer.As an Intermediate PCB Designer, your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Enter schematics into the design software, and create the required part library files when requiredLayout and optimization of components and circuits to minimize design and production costs while adhering to appropriate design requirementsEfficiently layout components and circuits to minimize design and production costs while adhering to appropriate design requirementsOptimize layout to maximize performance (including reduced EMI and thermal management)Generate the associated documentation to assist with design configuration managementMaintain the component parts librarySupport the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirementsParticipate in the preparation of engineering and product solution proposalsMentor junior PCB designers to achieve program goals and timelinesAdopt and support the company's core values and code of ethicsWhat you require to be successful in the roleEngineering graduate of an accredited institutionMinimum of 4 plus years' experience in the design and development of printed wiring boards (PWBs) using Altium Designer or a comparable design programAnalog and Digital Layout experience, especially with respect to high power electronics and modern component technologies, is required.Strong analytical and creativity capabilitiesA record of delivering cost effective and reliable designs within schedule and budget.Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skillsStrong problem solving and decision-making abilityAbility to thrive in a product development team environmentAbility to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasksProficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and OutlookPrevious experience designing switched-mode power supplies incorporating signal integrity, particularly Electromagnetic Interference mitigation strategies, would be highly desirableExperience with packaging and/or mechanical design would be an assetPast experience in the Defence industry would also be an assetFamiliarity with both commercial (IPC)
