Teaching Position – Secondary Math / Science School District No. 10 – Arrow Lakes, in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC, is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Sinixt, Sylix, Ktunaxa, and Secwepemc Peoples. We have the following temporary teaching contract prospect for the 2026-2027 school year: Position: Secondary Math, Science and Electives Teacher School: Lucerne Elementary Secondary School FTE: 1.0 FTE Temporary Contract Effective: October 26, 2026 – June 30, 2027 Salary Range: $ 67,040 - $11 9,548 Position Overview School District 10 is committed to fostering a collaborative community of learning grounded in strong academics, overall well-being, and a meaningful connection to the land. We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative educator to join a supportive and dedicated team of administrators, teachers, support staff, parents, students, and community partners. The successful candidate will share our commitment to this purpose and contribute actively to our vibrant learning community at Lucerne Elementary Secondary School. Assignment / Schedule This position is focused on teaching Grade 8-9 Math and Science, and Grade 10-12 Workplace Math.

It also involves teaching electives or other courses.

Required

Qualifications, Experience and Skills - A valid Teaching Certificate from the BC Teacher Regulation Branch - Successful secondary teaching experience - A bachelor's degree with a Major or Minor in mathematics/science or similar - Demonstrated ability in planning and designing engaging learning activities using BC curriculum - Strong interpersonal skills and strengths working within a team setting - Excellent classroom management skills and proven ability to engage all learners - Excellent ability to differentiate for all learners and co-plan for diversity and engagement - Successful experience integrating socio-emotional learning and self-regulated learning - Demonstrated understanding of indigenous cultures, and experience integrating First Peoples of Principles of Learning into teaching practice - Successful experience in facilitating outdoor learning experiences with a focus on place consciousness and cross curricular learning - Commitment to co-developing the School Growth Plan and collaboratively organizing for learning - Exemplary use of assessment strategies that engage learners and foster learning - Professional learning inquiry experience that informs professional practice - Commitment and expertise in building relationships with parents and community For additional information about the position contact Mitchell Hemphill, Principal at [email protected] Any questions about the recruitment process, including requesting an accommodation, can be sent to the attention of the District Human Resources Manager, Stephanie Roger, by email to [email protected].
