Position SummaryReporting to the Technical Manager, the Water Treatment Operator performs treatment of oily waters using chemical recipe's along with assorted types of pumps, valves and process equipment for the movement of the oily waters through the treatment process. The operator is also responsible for assisting with maintenance (scheduling, performing, recording and reporting) of process equipment and maintaining appropriate inventory levels of required treatment chemicals and miscellaneous water treatment supplies.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesMovement of oily waters from the tank farm to the process tanks based on direction from supervisorSampling of the water at different stages of the treatment processUse of pumps for the addition of chemicals (hazardous and nonhazardous) to the treatment tanks as directedPerforming basic wet chemistry test on treatment process samplesPreparation of reagents needed for treatment processMaintaining Inventory levels of required treatment chemicals and suppliesAssisting with the scheduling, performing, recording and reporting of process equipment maintenance (preventative and reactive)Operating and cleaning of the filter pressOperating and cleaning of oil/water separatorHousekeeping/maintenance tasks in the water treatment building as neededMaintenance of SOP'sOther duties as assigned by supervisorPosition Specifications (Qualifications)Education / Knowledge / ExperienceChemical Engineering Technology or Chemical Technician DiplomaOr equivalent experience of 2+ yearsWHMIS, Transportation Dangerous Goods (TDG)
