Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Data Operations Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Canada. Our client is a technology-driven healthcare company focused on making health insurance and care more accessible and affordable. The IT team is seeking an experienced Senior Data Operations Engineer who will be responsible for querying, analyzing, and interpreting complex healthcare data to support operational and compliance needs, with a particular focus on Plans &

Benefits data. This role is data-access and analysis focused rather than engineering focused - the ideal candidate is an expert in SQL, comfortable using Python for scripting and automation, and skilled at translating regulatory requirements into queries, reports, and actionable output. This is not a pipeline-building or platform-architecture role. The perfect candidate should be familiar with PowerShell, Microsoft Office and Visual Basic.

Requirements

- 5+ years of relevant experience in data analysis, reporting, or related field.
- Strong PowerShell and Visual Basic skills.
- Expert-level SQL skills with a strong ability to understand, structure, and interpret complex datasets.
- Working proficiency in Python for scripting and data analysis tasks.
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace, BigQuery and Microsoft Office.
- Robust attention to detail, with the ability to read and apply healthcare regulations (specifically those related to provider networks)

- Experience working with healthcare and familiar with CMS body concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document findings and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

- Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, analyze, and validate data across large healthcare datasets.
- Use Python for scripting, automation, and data manipulation to support analysis (not for building or maintaining production software systems).
- Interpret healthcare regulations - particularly those governing regulatory filling - and translate them into query logic, business rules, and reporting output.
- Translate complex business logic and rule sets into functional queries and analytical solutions.
- Review and optimize existing scripts and queries for performance and accuracy.
- Lead small projects focused on operational and process improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, compliance, and business teams to align data output with regulatory and operational requirements.
- Implement temporary workarounds while participating in efforts toward permanent fixes.
